My personal experience with Aflac

Re: Aflac Insurance

Hi , I am fairly new to the forum and was wondering if anyone sells AFLAC or knows about it? I am seriously considering selling it and need to know experiences anyone has had out there.Thank you.

Why? Colonial is hands down better for you and your clients. Check them out.

I sell for Colonial Life because AFLAC's reputation for service is horrible here. Here a few weaknesses I think Aflac has.

Colonials disability product does not have a 30 day wait for sickness. This is a huge advantage.

Colonials accident policy is not Class rated like Aflac. There is one set premium amount for all job classifications. This is pretty signifcant as well.

Aflac makes someone work 30 hours a week to be eligible for some of their products. Colonial's is twenty. Significant again for part-time employees.

Aflac has some decent products, overall though Colonial seems to be a much better company.

I sell both, and it will help you get in the door some of the time. I have had a few issues with claims with Voluntary Mart. Neve had a real issue with the AFLAC claims.
You are right on about to many AFLAC agents running around, They put requirements on the lower management to hire X amount of new agents each quarter it seems that they want the new agent to open 1 or 2 new accounts, by then most are broke and have to find a job. So the accounts stay with AFLAC.
They hold the carrot of getting a HQ account (see above) but the fact is that if you do not write new business in that account you will never make a dime off of all the service work you have to do with the sec 125. They do not have agent of record on any accounts.

Supplemental products are a great addition to any health plan in that they pay cash to the policy holder.

I'm an Aflac agent and need help, advice. I began working for Aflac in July of this year. I recruited my best friend and we went out and got some awesome accounts (oil industry) and made some killer bucks. Then the holidays hit us and the bad economy. The appointments dried up. Accounts dropped off the books, because of companies going under or clients deciding they needed the policy premium to survive. We have had to find other means to make money and pay our bills, while waiting for the market to get better. In the mean time, we are still writing business here and there and servicing our accounts.

I received a letter this week, notifying me that I was being terminated from Aflac and to refer to my contract that states I may be terminated "without cause". I can assure everyone that I have done nothing to be terminated for. I have completed all my CDIs, I have completed all of the required training, etc. The letter was from the new Vice President of Aflac and a copy sent to my State Coordinator.

I want to maintain my appointment with Aflac and continue to service my accounts, receive renewals and stock options when I have been with the company long enough. There are other agents that work in my district that haven't written business in more than a year, but continue to work for Aflac.

Has anyone else encountered this or have any advice for me? I haven't contacted anyone yet at the district or state office, because I want to know what I am up against before I talk to them. I want to be fully armed before going in.

Hey guys, one of my agents asked me a question about aflac, that I have no idea on. They would like to know that if they have an independent agent/broker contract with Aflac, and they go write up some family members on an individual basis not payroll deduction, will this agent get a commission for writing up family members? Some companies do not pay for writing up family members.
Yes, you get commission for writing family members direct, in fact, they encourage it. I have a hard time selling direct to family and friends, when the payroll deduction is so much cheaper.
