I've have two Medicare clients who have a life insurance problem and I'm looking for a life specialist in the Greenville, SC area to help them, if possible. They have what is called a "Flexible Premium Adjustable Life" policy on each of them, and the "flexible" premiums are rapidly moving out of their ability to pay. Both are 85. That is a very, very common problem for people who bought Universal Life policies and live into their mid 80’s or longer. They usually insist that they thought they bought whole-life or that it was supposed to work like whole-life.
Usually doesn’t end well. They can pony up the huge premium for this year but the premium will go even higher next year and the year after that.
You may be able to sell them or reduce the face to make the premiums more affordable.
