Hi!

We recently launched an email campaign with a list that was bought. We are sending out emails which we are tracking and following up with phone calls and/or emails depending on how often the email is open. However, we have been getting very little response. There are people who are opening the campaign emails a dozen times and not returning a voicemail or personal email.

:idea:Anyone have any ideas on how to get through?

Thanks! :v_SPIN:

Call the people first. If they are interested, go make a presentation. Why send an email as first contact?

If they are not interested, ask them if you can email them. Then, drip on them periodically and hope they eventually respond.

Ask yourself this: Do YOU respond to (spam?) email offers?

A few things.....

First, lecture mode:
- I hope you are following the can-spam rules and are staying compliant.
- Tell me you are following the DNC rules as well!
- Remember that you can buy a list but you cannot truly buy an opt-in
Lecture mode off.

In short, your problem is one of the following, or all of the following:
- Your content is terrible and not having any traction
- You are trying to sell insurance via email. Need to find a better way.
- Your tracking system is lying (they all do, you just have to understand why)
- You are trying to sell insurance via email.
- Your message doesn't have a clear call to action, what is next
- Your are trying to sell insurance via email
- You expect people to have a personal interaction as the next step, needs to be a link to a website
- You are trying to sell insurance via email
- You don't build any value in your message
- You are trying to sell insurance via email

I'm assuming that you have at least half of the items above in your content.

Ignoring the 'don't buy a list' mantra that many have, your goal out of a purchased list needs to be to get permission to send them an email. If you go for the 'sale' in message 1, you will have people press the 'report as spam' button and then you will get blacklisted and your emails will go into the infamous spam folder, or worse, never get delivered.

You need to bring value to your 'prospect', ask for them to sign up to your newsletter, give them info they want, and get permission to market to them.

One of the things I work with my clients (not insurance, but marketing clients) is to put together a local event list and email it out to your subscribers on a regular basis. Basically take a page from the realtors in your area. For me, I would send out emails that contain something like:

Local events happening downtown:
- On Tuesday, join the downtown association for 'Tuesday Tunes' by the flagpole, Papas band, a rhythmic and soulful group will be playing. A great family event. 6:30-8:00pm. Free Admission
- On Saturday, the Page Lick winery is holding a grape stomp demonstration. Come out and join in on the fun. Mention this newsletter and get a free tasting.
(get a few things, even include high school sports scores if you want).

At the bottom, close with something simple, such as:

Make it local, make it personal, and your newsletter subscriptions will increase.
