Can someone please give me a list of preferred and standard P&C carriers for Washington state? I've tried googling but I keep on getting re-directed....... Thanks!:1wink:

Off the top of my head:

MetLife, Pemco, Safeco, Travellers, Liberty Mutual, and Hartford. For high value stuff Chubb and Firemans Fund. Sort of Progressive (not exactly standard but they're a good appointment to have for people with young drivers)

MetLife Auto & Home is an odd company. They have a great name but really are just an average company. There Life Insurance products are a seperate company and are behind the times in my opinion. I would look into Pemco, heard good things about them!

I have been really impressed with one company in your state. McClain Insurance, check them out at autohomeboat.com. If your an agent I bet they would answer any questions you have.

Thanks for the tip :) I checked out their site, definitely gonna give them a call. Would loveee to have Pemco but they (among others) gave a straight no about a month ago. I'm glad that Met said yes because Sentry will only appoint me if I have one preferred company (Met) and one standard company (Progressive) on board.

It is pretty difficult to get approved by Preferred carriers now without being part of a cluster.

Yup... I wonder which clusters get access to all carriers right from the start? I talked to somebody (well he tried to recruit me) from Pacific Crest and he told me he got appointed with Pemco and Safeco a few months into working for PC.

Have you contacted Travelers? They are a good company in my book.

I have, they also want experience/an existing b.o.b. Which carriers did you start with?

Liberty Mutual appoints agents? in my area they told me they do not appoint agents unless it is excess lines.
