New Agent Question

Hi everyone! I am thinking about getting into the life insurance industry and i would like a little feed back, please.

Here's my info/situation. I am 25 and I have a 2,400 mortgage and bills to pay. I lost my job and with no education i cannot find a job that can pay me 3,400+ a month.

Bankers Life hired me the other day. I heard a lot of promises from them saying that if i work, it is very possible to make that and even more. i will literally be going all in by taking this job. If i fail at this then i will see myself very deep in a financial crisis.

They say all i need to do is take some 2-15 classes to pass the florida state test. then they will help me learn and get started by providing training and going to make sales with experienced agents. and blah blah blah with all the promises.

my question is... is this worth going all in? i know florida is retirement capital, i live in miami. i know there will be customers. but then again, with the economical situation in this country, is now the right time to jump into this industry?

im just looking for some guidance, im terrified but i really feel this job is my only way out for now. and i see there is a lot of possibility to move up in the industry.

please, any info will be greatly appreciated. thank you all for your time.

I'm just going to tell you the truth.

This is not for you. You need money too fast and you can't make the money you will need fast enough.

Just passing the test wont be enough to get you where you need to be. It will take a long time before you are making what you need to make a living.

bankers life promises me leads that are fresh and they will have an experienced agent the first few months to help me close sales.

on the other hand, how long would you say it may take on average to begin making what i need to be making? also, how much do you feel a new agent would be making monthly?

i know different companies work differently. the only reason i signed up with bankers is because they hold your hand through the first few months. i know other companies dont.

btw, i really appreciate your quick response.

well the reason i have this house and was able to pay the mortgage was because of my previous job (that i lost). my wife is a afterschool teacher making less than 1000 a month so for now, it's on me.

This is a hard business and unless you have the support that you need and YOU GIVE IT EVERYTHING YOU CAN,,you wont make it.

No one can do this for you. I'm not sure that all of this can be taught. You have to learn some things by trial and error and you are in need of money fast and it takes a lot of time to make a good living.

But, it all depends on you and how bad you want it. I do some a few people jump into this business and out do all of us. But they have what it takes and never give up.

I hate to say it but I agree with Mark. This is not a get rich quick type of business. Sure you can make a lot of jingle but you need to be trained and start the relationship building process.

Anything worth having takes time and hard work. This business is no exception. I wish you luck but don't go in thinking this is a cake walk.

No, he said he had a $2400 mortgage and bills to pay.

For his sake I sincerely hope you are wrong. Twenty five years old, no education and a $2,400 mortgage. Wow, he would be in a ton of hurt.

He said he needs to earn $3,400 per month. I assume that is to cover all of his expenses and $1,000 to live on.

If he posts again I guess we will know.
