New Agents Can Make 100k to 250 in 1st Year Crap

Well let's see. If an agent could sell 185 policies over a 12 month period at an average of $45 per month premium, that would hit the 100K mark. Not that you would get paid all of that up front because they all wouldn't pay out the full 12 months.

52 weeks of working 5 days a week selling 1 policy a day would put you at 260 policies for the 12 month period.

So, is it feasible? Yes it is. Will most agents do it? NO! Why? Because most agent won't work that hard. Some do, and they will make it, but most don't.

So the question again is....Can an agent make 100K their first year? YES!!

Laid out perfectly.

True story.....an Agent at the office I satellite out of started doing FE with one carrier not even part time. It was less than part time and he didn't buy any leads. He does annuities mainly. Anyway over a 3 month period he was in the hospital for 3 weeks and on vacation for 4 weeks. He made a little over 10k during that 3 month period and that was on 80% COMP

He's the type of agent if you told him he couldn't make 100k a year selling FE he would go out and make 200k just to prove you wrong. :1tongue:

Leads are just a name on a piece of paper.

Well it's good to have goals isn't it? I'm a rookie but I can visualize myself making 100k in the 1st year. If I become and expert in both med sup and FE and work hard, like really hard and keep working I will shoot for that 100k.

It's a lot more motivating to shoot for 100k than it is 45k right? Not a very inspiring speech pushing the 45k goal lol

Just remember, even though the VAST majority of new guys don't hit 100k I am sure there are some that do. As long as SOME guys, even just 1, can make 100k in his first year than new people have every right to think they can too.

I wouldn't have gotten into the insurance business if I didn't think I could make at least 100k per year. I guess I just assumed that 100k is the starting point. Obviously it's not all about the money, but my goodness this would be an awful lot of regulation and hassle for 50-60k wouldn't it? You could sell windows and siding or appliances and make that much and you don't have to worry about the feds cutting your pay in half.

I can see the OP's point in that a brand new agent that has never been in sales before and has no track record of success could be misled by the advertisement of 100-250k FIRST YEAR!!! . I would hope that a good recruiter would go over realistic first year goals on a case by case basis after they get a feel for where the agent is at in his career. Although with career recruiters that are the Kool Aid drinkers, I don't hold out a lot of hope for that. I don't know anyone from FE101 personally, by looking at some of the videos and reading some posts, I have a sneaking suspicion that some realistic goals would be set. I can smell a "true believer" recruiter a mile away and I think most people can, too. Sometimes you believe what you want to believe, though.

1. I've seen his website and read it and watched his videos and some stuff doesn't add up? That's fine too. He's promoting his "membership" and if an agent wants to join...God bless him/her. But, one time he says he left Equita after 4 months. Another time he says he left Equita after 6 months. Small detail. But still, not accurate.

2. I started in 2000. No real sales experience and for thos eveterans, you'll laugh, but I was on a 60%, 56% adv, HAD to buy 30 leads every week at $18 a piece with GUARANTEE RESERVE LIFE! You all think LH and SL is high?!

3. My first year I made after taxes, $88K. BUT, I worked my ASS off. Had to. Had no choice. I was broke as a joke. Worked 6 days a week. 2 nights a week late and sometimes Sundays if we had a contest.

4. It is possible. Not to sound lame but anything IS possible. My personal story proves it. Like one person on here said...my family said get a real job. My friends turned their back on me when I had no money. My best friend was the RD. I stuck to him like glue! The guy ran around everyday in the "hood" selling policy's and living in a million dollar home. (I get it now. he was making MAD o/w's!) Still tho...

I talk to sooooo many agents today that want to succeed. "Want" to succeed. But they aren't willing to do what it takes to make it happen. Hell...the leads I used to run was your basic FE direct mail card. But at the bottom in bold writing said "send this free, no obligation card back in and receive your free prescription drug, vision and dental discount card that will get you up to 50% off". My counterparts complained every friggin Saturday about the crappy leads. I was young and cocky and said..."I'll show them". I ave $17K a month in AP. I just had to work a lot harder than others and failure was not an option.

If someone else is doing it...I can to. So can anyone. But one ahs to bring it to the table themselves. I think today, some want it handed to them?

We are coming out soon with our own YouTube and training video's. No charge at all. But...you do have to join us. That's the way it should be done in my opinion. Charge for training when I'm making o/w's?!?! Man...that's shady.

Great thread!

If a new agent has deep enough pockets for marketing they can certainly make 100K their first year.. If an agent is strapped for cash but has a "fire in their belly" and im not talking about acid refulx:D they can make 100K their first year!!

Greg,

Is the Daviso Group part of your group? Are you guys part of the same team or two separate groups?

How would an agent choose which of you to contract with? Do you operate exactly the same or differently?
