I would like to work for an insurance company with a pre set marketing program with leads, and or direct mail. I also live in San Diego CA and I am a college football player.

You are either going to have to be captive with one of the companies mentioned or SL or LH if want to be with an insurance company.

If you want to be independent then you are looking for an IMO.

What you're looking for is the equivalent of a job that pays $80k/year with full benefits with I presume negligible professional experience.

If a company has qualified preset appointments, it's uncommon at best that they give those out to rookie agents at no cost. If you want to sell insurance and earn big commissions, you're going to have to figure out your own marketing. There is a reason the commissions are so high and it's not because people are lining up to buy the stuff.

You may want to give American Income Life a good effort, EFES and/or Securus may also be good options.

In CA, also throw Asurea into the mix, ask for Eric Salazar, independent and captive contracts.
