JD, what situations do you use AmCon for?

Most for meds that other companies have a problem with. I use 5 Star for them too.

AmCon has better rates for smokers than 5 Star. Also pretty good rates for the older folks. They are bad for diabetics but other than that they are pretty good. I wish their rates were better. I would use them as my primary company if their rates were better.

He only sets appt, he never door knocks, cause that's too beneath him, lol!

Haha! I do doorknock and I sold a couple of pretty nice sized policies this week from doorknocking but it is not my preferred way to work.

The ones this week were a little different as they had put their phone number on the card but they had two numbers backwards and since it was a cell number I couldn't find the right number for them. I even offered to come back after I doorknocked them and they gave me the right number. They said they had time right then so I went on in.

I do hate doorknocking and if the rules were changed tomorrow so that we had to only doorknock I would only continue in this field ubtil I could find another line of work.

I'm trying to make myself work more efficiently like JD and Travis Tubbs and set my appointments up on the phone. But it's a struggle for me because I like door knocking.

I think of it the exact opposite way that JD does. If someone calls me from the lead card and tries to set an appointment with me for tomorrow, I would be very reluctant because I don't want to commit to being home tomorrow (assuming I was retired.)

If someone knocked on my door right now and I happen to be home eating a bowl of ice cream and watching Jude Judy reruns (very likely) I would be happy to let them come in and explain to me what they are selling (after they pass my smell test at the front door.)

Probably because I think the way I do, I'm worse on the phone and better on the porch. JD is killer on the phone and resists being on the porch unless it's a last ditch effort.

Goes right along with my theory: if you THINK it will work, it will work. If you THINK it won't work, it won't work.

Newby, isn't that^^^ just another way of saying what I said above "Door knocking is just too beneath JD for him to do it" LMAO! :-P

I wouldn't say it is beneath him.

I would say that JD is irritated if someone knocks on his door unannounced with the purpose of selling him something. So for that reason he doesn't like to be the guy knocking on other people's doors.

I'm not the least bit bothered by salespeople knocking on my door. I'm always interested in hearing their pitch and seeing what they are offering. I feel like most people are pretty welcoming.

Just two different perceptions.

Both are very effective, just have to find what works for you as long as it is making you money.

In the end, that's all that matters.

Oh Go Blue!..awesome game lastnight..loved the 3pt shot!

f I know they are home I prefer to drop by because they are more likely to tell you to piss off on the phone. Even the best on the phone would have better appointment rates speaking in person.

However, that being said, I just don't like wasting time chasing deadends, so I typically will set mine by phone. I do it as I go, to minimize them forgetting or having remorse and notshowing. Plus you never know how long you'll be in a house, had one a few weeks back where the couple had 9 different life policies that needed replacing! Half were term, the rest were all different carriers ranging from american income to Mutual of omaha to AAA.

I was there for nearly 4 hrs, but made about 4500 bucks counting the med supps I wrote them. Would have messed up my entire schedule had I set appts the day before.

However, if they wont give me an appt on the phone but I know its got potential, I will show up a day or two later. Had one lady tell me she was paying $250 mth for aarp term, but didn't want to give appt and said she was not interested. Door knocked her at 9 am next day and wrote her foresters for the same premium....

I don't know what you are trying to get at but bottom line is that it's far more effective for me to call and set appointments. if someone wants to be a door to door salesman then good for them. It's not for me.

When I quit my first job in ins with AmGen it was because they were talking about having us go doorknock and also having "call night" where they stood over you and supervised your prospecting calls. I told them I was doing neither and was told during the hiring process that was not to expected.

While looking for a job one of the places I interviewed was at Westen and Southern Life. On the 2nd interview the guy asked me why I left AGLA and I told him they were wanting me to doorknock and they were going to start having call night. He said they did call night too. I thanked him for the warning and got up and left.

The way I do things obviously works for me. If you have a problem with that then that is your problem.
