NYE Party Referral

Hey guys,
I've got a guy with a company of 50 employees based in Georgia.
They've got Humana now and they hate it.
All employees are remote workers.

My question to yall is twofold:

Can I write this group of employees if I have licensure and appointment in Georgia? Or do I need licenses and appointments in each state an employee seeking coverage resides in?

I planned on going with BCBS of Georgia.
Waiting on my license from NIPR now.

Also this deal was made on my first having met the guy. It was a party in a mansion on the beach. He came in and immediately offered everyone gummies. (The good kind)
Seeing as he's generous I want to do as right by him and his employees as possible. I trust y'all here to give me good advice. BCBS or something else?

I myself am on an out of state blue cross blueshield group plan and I love it.

Why do you think BX is "right" for this group? Why do the employees hate Humana? Why do you think they will hate BX less? Are the employees W2 or 1099? Have you ever written a group of this size? Have you ever written a group plan on on employer with workers in multiple states?

BCBS for network size.
Don't know.
I assume W2 I'm not sure why someone would offer health insurance to a 1099. I've worked as a 1099 in multiple states and was never offered health insurance.
I've never written a group of this size.
I've never written an intrastate group.

Sounds like you are in over your head.

BX is not the only national carrier with a large network. Humana, UHC, Aetna and most others have large networks.

BCBS is a network I myself have been on and had excellent coverage in multiple states. Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Florida.

Humana is garbo, refused to approve one of my clients CPAP machines and she nearly died because of it. I was on the phone with her husband, and Humana for 3 hours attempting to get this thing approved after she had been hospitalized.

I'm writing an Aetna group now because my medicare clients have been so pleased with Aetna in Florida.

I got into this industry because I like to learn so if by your mark, I'm in over my head that means there's lots I get to learn.

@UncappedIULforYou based on your questions and statements, you are in over your head with this group case. Better to find someone willing to split with you and possibly get something out of it.

Good luck.

The owner of the company specifically stated when I mentioned to him that I may have to ask for help, that this was for me only. He asked "Can you handle it?"
I said "Yes."
My grandpa never graduated elementary school yet he is a millionaire who founded a company. Do you know how he got there? By saying he could do things for people, that he didn't yet know how to do. It was after he had accepted a job that he learned how to do it.

Sounds like you have painted yourself into a corner.

Ask your grandpa to help.

Good luck.

In what world would a business owner want to say this?

If you said, "I'll quarterback the whole deal from start to finish, but I have a group expert on my team who I'd like to loop in as well", do you still think he'd say "no, do it by yourself"?

So if this guy goes to a doctor for a checkup and his GP refers him to a cardiologist, he just says "nah, you figure it out"...

Seems like a strange thing to say.
