Obama Open to 'tweak' of Health Care, Not Repeal

I think part 5 is the one that will kill this plan. I agree that breaking up the hospital consolidations will help, but good luck getting that to go through. Honestly, if we just started with that part, the rest wouldn't be as important.

I thought Democrats hated, despised and loathed oligopolies. Oh, except if they're contributing huge sums of money of course.

I'm having a hard time keeping up with just reading this forum, much less finding relevant posts from a hundred years ago to add a comment to. I wonder how AllenChicago does it? Surely his search button is on steroids! (just ribbing you Allen!).

Ann, it's not steroids. It's hyper-analism caused by the pollution that Tater's industries are sending to Illinois, according to the EPA.

How so?

Assuming his data is accurate, it does appear that non-consolidated hospital networks are cheaper to a level of significance. I admit, it does not necessarily follow logically that reversing the consolidations would reverse the price increases, but it does seem likely.

Tweak my ass....we have been fighting this stupidity all my career....if John Goodman wasn't such an ***. We would have had a $4,000 tax credit for every American back in 1995 for individuals to purchase insurance. Bush and congress were all ready for it but dumb john has to say the problem is health insurance costs $6,000. This was back in 1996 when a 35 year old couple could could get a health policy for about a $100 a month....

Here's some history. Broken record..

Hospitals are becoming vertically integrated. Buying medical practices, establishing offsite clinics, etc.

This is driving down costs within the food chain and providing profit centers outside of the very costly acute care facility.
