ObamaCare and Medicare

Universal was around 2 stars, I believe.

This happened two years in a row. First year, they stopped the Premium reimbursement on the part b premium which upset their clients. The next year they lowered the benefits to make up the different and made it worse.

They appeared to only think that it was a dollars and cents thing. They thought their complaints to Medicare were agent enrollment issues as they made agents go through extra stuff to get cerified. Their problem was their benefits and how much money they thought they could make. Not good planning at all.

As far as I know - there are no 5 star MA plans anywhere in the country - the highest is 4 stars. There are only 5 PDP plans that are 5 star rated and none of them are here in the middle of the country (can't remember where they are) - the only thing I knew about those is that they were all "Blues" in their markets.

KP is 4.5 stars in GA. I believe they said they have 5 in CA.

Still think the govt rating is BS.

What I tell my clients is that the brunt of Obamacare cuts will hit the doctors. Most of my clients are in Supps, so they can shop around for docs.
I try not to scare my MAPD clients too much, but I warn them that they may, eventually, have to pay higher copays or premiums for their plans. In most cases, they don't care, just as long as they aren't paying as much as a supp and they can find a doctor in their plan.
There is so much fear-mongering going on that I have to talk them down from the edge. I tell them that the stuff they see on TV will affect me, and their kids and grandkids, more than it will affect them, at this point in time.
This whole scare grandma and grandpa crap has got to end.

Don't know about your state, but there are no 5 star MA plans in Georgia.

The govt star rating is BS.

I have no idea what the rating was on Universal Health or Silverscript before they got in trouble, but I bet it wasn't 0 stars.

i dont know of any 5 star rated plan in central florida either

Came across this article from CMS today after I started this thread:
CMS PROPOSES 2014 PAYMENT AND POLICY UPDATES FOR MEDICARE HEALTH AND DRUG PLANS

to sum up the article:

Pt. D will get to catastrophic coverage quicker.

Pt. C will have about a 5% cut in rate of growth in 2014, but will still be spending 1.5% more than in 2013

if thats all that is going to happen to MA, I dont see any real changes in the plans next year

The CMS website has raw data and ratings in EXCEL format that can be downloaded for Part-C and Part-D on every company. I see quite a few 4.5 ratings, but only one 5.
