Opt-In Email Lists

Even if they opt-in they didn't opt in for you and chances are you're risking being labeled as a spammer. Save your money. Go throw the hundred dollar bills you would have spent onto the freeway with your phone number written on them. You'll probably get more business that way anyhow.

Only my own experience. Since the beginning of March we have received over 150 spam emails from him.

We have requested dozens of times to be removed, even though he does not have an unsubscribe in the body of the spam email. We have called his office to be removed without success.

In addition we have "never"opted into any email list, which means he got our email address without our permission. He has violated numerous Can-Spam Act violations just based on our experience.

Spam Cop is an online service that monitors spam abuse and reports it to the ISP of the spammer. The FTC is the government agency that enforces spam abuse like his.

He does not sell opt-in lists and I am sure you will see some additional responses from people with similar experiences from this guy.

Nobody on someone elses lists have opted in to receive your emails. If they opted in to receive your emails, you would have their email address.

If you sign up to 'win a prize' at a fast-food restaurant, a lot of those give the company that offers the prize the right to spam your email. Of course, is this who your target market really is?

A little common sense will tell you that this isn't worth the expense.

Spam cops mostly work undercover. They have been trained to detect the difference in Spam and Treet.

Any attempt to pass off a sandwich made with Treet as Spam and you run the risk of being arrested. You also have to register as a Spam offender.

It is not a fun life.

That one of the things I'm wondering about....these are supposed to be people that have opted in the recieve emails...

Yeah, but what did they opt-in to receive? I'm guessing they were given some form of freebie to provide their email. Not exactly a high quality lead for any agent.

Very true...they did not opt in to recieve Insurance offers...but I could see targeting people that opt in for Tobacco products with an ad stating they may be paying twice as much as they need to as some carriers with treat nicotene use differently....I don't care that they where not looking for insurance as a lead the ad might wake them up send them to the website provide them with a free report and the oppurtunity to request a quote...

My concern once again is the can-spam laws.....As I understand it I would not recieve the email nor would I send them I would pay a provider to mail them to their list of opt in email addresses.

For the last month I have been trying to get one of the forum members deeddata "Super Genius" to stop sending spam email solicitations to all of our email accounts. To date we have now received over 170 email solicitations. We have called his office to be removed, we have emailed him without response until today.

He doesn't even follow his own rules for sending emails (see his post above). Specifically he does not have an unsubscribe anywhere in the solicitation and he does not send to opt-in email addresses.

I would like to share with the forum how professional Jim Burgos responses have been. Below are his comments that he finally sent today:

"I get plenty of unwanted messages and I delete them. Are you a spam crusader? Don't you have a business to run instead?"

"It means I'm gonna @@@ you in the ass, faggot"

"the insurance forums consist of a bunch of broke newbies that can't sell insurance, they can't even close a door, so go ahead.
don't you have a business, or do you have a pretend business? I find it remarkable if you were making any money that you have enough time for childish back tit for tats with a spammer....
since you want to harass me, I will sign you up for many opt-in emails
and newsletters, free offers, etc, talk about opt-in."

These are his responses to us formally asking him to stop sending us unwanted spam email solicitations. We started a month ago trying to get him to stop. Does this sound like a "Super Genius"?

Maybe this Genius could have taken us off his list when we asked 30 days ago.

And how would you know???
Smells like a serial treeter to me...

I used to date an undercover Spam cop. The hardest part was getting her out of that can and then we had to clean all that goop off her.
