Outside Entry Motel Coverage

Does anyone know of any standard carriers that write mom and pop, non-franchise exterior entry motels that are over 40 years old? I have several clients looking for better pricing and coverage on their motels, but I'm not having much luck finding carriers that write them anymore. All the standard carriers I deal with say they will right these risks, but after submitting several apps I'm learning otherwise. The carriers are either priced too high or they say that they will only write franchised Hotels, not motels.

Anyone having any luck right now placing this type of risk with standard carriers? If so with whom?

Thanks for the help in advance!

I wouldnt think any STANDARD carrier will write this....

Most of these Motels are currently placed at Iowa Mutual or Midwest Family Mutual, not through my agency. Most have been written by these carriers in just the past few years.

Check with Capitol Indemnity. They are based out of Wisconsin and will write non-franchised, exterior entry motels. Good Luck.

It's Capitol Indemnity written through the E&S market? The current polices are written with standard carriers. Do you think they are competitive?

Thanks!

They have admitted and non-admitted so their admitted carrier would be considered "specialty".

We also have Utica First and Seneca and they might look at this type of account and are "standard" markets.

How many stories is the property ? if it is under 3 United Fire Group will probably do it but, im pretty sure they dont allow wholesale in their contract so you may need to refer to an appointed agency and split commissions if they are willing. I know United Fire does not like franchised stuff so this may be up their alley ...

UFG is the closest in pricing but they are still $800 to high. I'm not able to any credits due to the low premium and recent hail claims. Thanks for your help.

Sorry bro... Usually they are my saving grace here in utah for that type of stuff but if you have a local burns & wilcox they may be able to help you out... Been doing good stuff with them locally too due to the fact I dont have access to all our CA appointments in Ut.
