FYI...

OXENDINE WILL NOT IMPLEMENT FIRST PHASE OF FEDERAL HEALTH CARE LEGISLATION

Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine announced today that he will not participate in the first phase of the recently enacted federal health care legislation which calls for the implementation of a temporary high risk insurance pool in Georgia. On April 2, Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius sent a letter to Oxendine asking him to express his interest in participating in the temporary high risk insurance program established by the new health insurance reform law.

Re: Oxendine Will Not Implement First Phase Of Federal Health Car

Just out of curiosity, why does everyone call it a "takeover of the US healthcare system?" Am I missing something? I thought the whole thing revolved around insurance.

True...I feel like I am on a daily basis! The only thing that changes is the source.

Re: Oxendine Will Not Implement First Phase Of Federal Health Car

The question is, HOW DO WE REPLICATE THIS IN OTHER STATES?
We need to band together to have our insurance commissioners do the same.
Any Suggestions on how we can accomplish that?

Thank God for Georgia!

Re: Oxendine Will Not Implement First Phase Of Federal Health Car

Briko, this is a back door takeover of health insurance. I don't think the folks in DC are smart enough to have planned it that way, but it is what they will have accomplished if Obamacare is allowed to stand in its' present form.

Re: Oxendine Will Not Implement First Phase Of Federal Health Car

I think its a political move. He's running for Gov. in a conservative state...and this will help his campaign.

Hope it holds though.

Re: Oxendine Will Not Implement First Phase Of Federal Health Car

It may or may not be political. Doesn't matter to me either way,but spending money the state doesn't have for a program that is going away in 3 yrs makes no sense.
