Pet Insurance - Help Your Clients Love You

I"m mainly thinking of their best interest, but adding a pet insurance product would differentiate me from the other insurance guys.

Well, I have put up a link to the plan I like. Most insurance plans make a big deal that they cover routine crap but have an annual limit. Healthy Paws doesn't cover those items that people can afford (please tell Obummer) and instead will pay 90% without an annual limit.

I looked into offering it a few years ago, but didn't want to get my P&C. But it is a good thing to have especially if you have more than one pet. We have pets that are entering their twilight years and they are going to start having issues. I should talk to my husband about it again!

I guess I am the cold hearted guy...I totally think you are leaving some of the suffering husbands out. You could have another link to click to pay someone to off the wife's chihuahua. I am certain some husbands will thank you (anyone have such a link).

Do they have a schedule per diagnosis? I have VPI on my english mastiff who tore her ACL. About $7K in total costs. VPI gets you on only paying so much per the schedule and they also do not pay for anything that does not promote a diagnosis. So if you get full set of xrays but they come up negative, then you get nothing reimbursed.

No schedule. They pay what the vet bills.

Ernie could have had his radiation in 16 weekly visits (with anesthesia) for about $10,000. I chose 3 treatments over the course of 5 day. Different protocol and costs $14,000.

I called them 1st to see if what they would pay. I would have been fine with 90% of the $10K. They told me that if the vet recommends something, they pay.

Also, there is no maximum out of pocket.

I'm really pleased with how they took care of me and of course, my dog.

Looks like I may have to switch on my other dogs. Mastiff is getting a little older so switching would be a large jump in premium.

Heads up, there's a pet insurance marketplace that actually makes personalized recommendations based on a custom analysis of the pet & pet parent... scans the data points and fine print across tons of plans to show you some "best fit" options.

It's called Pawlicy Advisor - and I wish it existed for human insurance! haha

Does it cover MRI's for dogs and cats?

Yep! Tests that your vet considers necessary are covered.

Not sure how to say this bit to not flag spam (does it help that it's a free resource?), but the really cool thing about the Pawlicy Advisor tool I mentioned is it calculates breed-specific risks into its analysis to recommend the right option... like, say your pup's breed is prone to knee injuries, the tool is smart enough to flag plans that aren't ideal (e.g. if the provider's fine print details that there's a year-long waiting periods for knee injuries than you certainly don't want their plans if your breed is high risk for knee issues!)
