Profit and Growth happen when you have The Right team Empowered and Accountable to make decisions that drive results. It sounds so easy. It often flows from the top. It is fun to see when it flows from the bottom up.

Do you agree? are you a lone wolf a Change Agent? Tell me about it.

I'm a lone wolf.

Just finished my second year.

Did about 50k less this year then last, overall still a good year. Servicing my first year and relocating slowed me down but looking to hire my first employee in a couple months.

All you suits act like there's all this planning behind running an agency. It's simple...write business & make lots of money. I'm tired of my group president always wanting to take about "business plans" and "goals." I single handedly out-write his entire personal lines division.

Profit & growth happen when you bust your @$$...beat the streets like a GOD DAMN MACHINE and get referral after referral because you're the most hungry, aggressive & obsessed insurance professional out there.

That's it. The book has been written. No offense Shawnwalker. It's THAT SIMPLE. All these "marketing plans" and blah blah blah are a bunch of bull crap. Go out w/ COI's & get drunk w/ them. You'll forever become friends & always get their business.

true story........

I actually agree that busting your @$$ is 95% of it. Get beaten up, get up keep going, over and over. Wake up and work proactively to get business. to your point many go to the office and wait reactively for their phone to ring and their book to grow. (Probably some in your group)

Quality and Quantity. Clearly you are a quantity guy. (By this I am not suggesting your book is unprofitable)

Clearly you are a hard core sales guy- lone wolf.

I agree.. however I always operated on a "management by objective" basis.

Every 1st of the month I sat down and made a list like this.

Submissions-
Binds-
Premium-

and set goals for that month.

On the last day of the month I reviewed by results.

I also made a list of HOW I was going to reach those goals.

But I agree it really just comes down to doing it .. but you do need an end goal in mind and a road map of how to get there.

I have worked with producers who just go balls to the wall and their crash and burn was epic... One had that most absurd work ethic ever (which I later learned was a result of some help from certain substances he was taking)

Dude lived like the Wolf of Wall street.

I know what I want to write this year which is to double my new business production compared to last year. I know what I need to book each month to do that & I track my monthly production to make sure it's on pace. I'll come just shy of doubling my new business production compared to last year.

There's really no "review" for me because every day I write new policies & therefor I'm adding them to my list so every day I'm staring at my counter going up & up.

It seems like my agency operates very differently then most. I have developed such a constant flow of new home buyer referrals that I literally am 100% consumed w/ quoting & binding new policies. I don't have time to do anything else. My income continues to amaze me & it goes up by around $50,000 per year every year. I actually get pissed off every time my phone rings w/ referrals because....well...it just gets boring after awhile.

The only plan I really want to come to fruition is to work less hours. I'm bringing on a producer January 1st and I'm going to dump most of my leads on him & just work 4-6 hours per day & find some solace as I find myself feeling somewhat overwhelmed w/ my pace of production.

Writing new home buyer referrals requires constant attention to inspections, mailing address changes, mortgagee updates (that especially need to be micromanged at renewal when the originating mortgage company changes hands..) closing date changes & the hole 9 yards. There's some much BULL CRAP that comes along w/ writing the business.

Insurance1822 what method would you consider has gotten to the point you are at with homeowner referals? Networking, advertising, social media, etc.. tell us your secret lol. :)

I started out young & by dumb luck the people I formed relationships ended up growing HUGE mortgage operations that have contracts w/ many real estate offices.

As a result, these people (who are my friends..) have pushed me to their LO's for years and I'm great at what I do so all those LO's began to love me...and their realtor partners etc.

So I did the right things by networking when I was young. I just (maybe) got a little lucky the the relationships I solidified w/ were people who REALLY found success in originating loans & growing large teams.

So am I better at networking? ehh I dunno. Again, I just bull$hit w/ people and have drinks and golf etc. I tend to be straight spoken, brutally honest & despite my attitude on these forums...I tend to always do right by people. So maybe that helped me w/ networking? who knows.
