Profit and Growth Happen When....

Ins1822 is not a real agent. HAHA. he is the alterego of a struggling agent with 200k in total WP working in his basement. Here he can be anything so he chooses to be a dog shooting bad boy.

I don't buy it. HAHAHAHAH!

Jk. I believe if you do what he says you can create what he has. I believe you can do a bit more professionally as well.

Lol, post of the day?

all you suits act like there's all this planning behind running an agency. It's simple...write business & make lots of money. I'm tired of my group president always wanting to take about "business plans" and "goals." i single handedly out-write his entire personal lines division. Profit & growth happen when you bust your @$$...beat the streets like a god damn machine and get referral after referral because you're the most hungry, aggressive & obsessed insurance professional out there. That's it. The book has been written. No offense shawnwalker. It's that simple. All these "marketing plans" and blah blah blah are a bunch of bull crap. Go out w/ coi's & get drunk w/ them. You'll forever become friends & always get their business.

lmao!!!!!!

Lmao!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DUDE....we sell home & auto insurance. We aren't financial advisers or CPA's. If you walk around fully suited up w/ a tie & slicked hair to sell home & auto insurance then you're a straight douche bag. My demographic is married couples purchasing homes around an average of $250,000. This is main stream america. I don't know where you live, but around me a 250k house is "decent" but not "nice" IMO. Again...personal lines home/auto is so simple a freaking 18 year old in college working part time can sell it.

Mid market and/or big commercial? Ya my buddies who do that dress the role for sure, but I make more then them in my golf shorts & polo w/ sandals all day long.

Cut the bull crap. I wouldn't be surprised if your next suit position is at Ameriprise telling all the hood rats that are stupid enough to get recruited that you guys 'change lives' of your clients etc.

AND OF COURSE I don't speak so rough around the edges w/ my clients (unless they've been w/ me awhile & then that's different.) I do, however...let my carrier reps know how worthless they are.

1822 is your goal eventually to continue to work your COI relationships and build new ones while your agency runs it self? I.e. When those referral calls come in, have someone other than you in your office shop it out?

I ask because that is ultimately the goal I have. I don't want to be quoting auto/home myself my whole career. I rather focus on growing the agency in other ways.

Just curious why you haven't got to that point yet, if there is any particular reason.

YES my goal is have that personal lines business on automation where all my leads are farmed out to 2-3 producers and they do the work. I could easily get more COI's by leveraging my existing ones, but until I get an army of producers to take care of it...I couldn't handle it right now.

I'm kind of at the point where I make enough money for all my needs so I don't really know about continuing to grind, grow, hire, leverage etc. I want to chill out & do some commercial insurance & just have a life at this point where I'm not up to my eyeballs w/ new home buyer referrals. I want to join my buddies on the golf course or for Sunday football & not be glued to my phone/emails anymore.

I haven't got to that point yet because I've chose to be a greedy bastard. I've chose to ignore hiring producers because I kept wanting all the extra money to myself. That being said, with my new batch of renewals that will kick in starting in January...I can make the same money I did last year without selling a new policy. So the way I see it was I had a blind viking dash to get my income to the magic # I wanted.

Now I'm here & it's time to drop my sword and breathe a little. The other downside is I do believe my retention could have 3 points better if I would have paid a full time CSR to handle the phones 9-5. But that 3 points doesn't translate to a full time CSR'S salary so I still won the bet.

If you didn't have 800+ posts on a message board and rolled through more of those referrals maybe you would have more time to watch football.

BTW .. writing commercial lines does not give you more downtime ...

I actually get pissed off every time my phone rings w/ referrals because....well...it just gets boring after awhile.

After a year and half since my last post I just wanted to say that this forum provides me with some very entertaining laughs whenever I read it occasionally.

Secondly I would like to nominate the above as the post of the year, actually, make that the decade. :D:D

I agree!!! We have all thought that at some point.

I wrote $427,000 in new business alone so far this year. I have a staff of 6. Spend some money on a csr and you will be able to sell much more! I too network with RE agents and mortgage brokers. I thoughtfully market and advertise. The phones ring off the hook for quotes. My staff does the upfront info gathering and sets them up in our system. I finalize the quotes and do most of the selling. I'm looking to add 2 more staff shortly. I'm also thinking about adding producers. But I'm reluctant. That will take a lot of my time for training.
