I don't think I properly introduced myself yet. I signed up a while ago but now I'm ready to take advantage of what this forum has to offer.
My friend opened up an independent October 2006 after working with his dad for a few years at his Allstate agency. His dad had been in the business for about 30 years at that point, working out of Sears and all that.
He realized that his dad was a slave to Allstate and that opening up his own independent agency was the best choice. From scratch.
I started working for him March of 2007 when he had enough of a book to support one full-time employee. His wife also worked, but worked as a part-owner.
Been there ever since and have been through all of the fraud Florida has to offer. Mostly I've dealt in home & auto.
I've been itching to make some more money and coming to a breaking point about whether I want to continue insurance as a career. The only way I feel like I'll make more money is to start my own agency, but I'm not sure I'm ready for that.
