I'm operating in a different world with commercial p&c. 2 of the 3 accounts I am working on at the moment are paying annual premiums roughly in line with what your policies have as payouts.

I had a lady about an hours drive call me this morning and wanted me to be at her house at 1. She said she would be waiting on me. Well I just called her after waiting almost an hour for her. She forgot and is having her nails and toes done. What a joke.
I am guessing that someone that doesn't have it together enough to save up enough for their own funeral probably doesn't have it together enough to make all their appointments?
Okay, the nice part of hell...
This past week, I've encountered prospects like this:
- Home wreaked of urine, no kitchen table/house in disarray
- Waited till they were elderly with multiple health conditions then acted shocked at the price (the lowest I could get mind you)
- 2 prospects told blatant lies about being non-tobacco and 1 tried to get me to lie on the app (his previous agent lied on an app for him) and the other claimed he was non tobacco whilst spitting what looked like chewing tobacco
- 1 completely acted like he didn't have any medical issues/medications ("oh no I don't take meds, I just take to gabapentin and Lortab as needed")
- One guys wife was nice lady but VERY unhealthy - multiple strokes, couch-ridden, obese, on 10 medications and was like "don't she look good?" ..... In my mind, I'm thinking 'is this a trick question?' .... could tell he loved her but she was very unhealthy and proof that looking 'good' can be deceptive for whats lying underneath the surface
The positive
- All of them showed up for the appointment
- All of them quite personable
- I got a crash course in the Prospects From Hell 401 (and the week aint even over yet)
I'm definitely going to have to meditate tonight and before work tomorrow morning!
Have you encountered any odd prospects?
For me, my clients from hell are the entitled, rude, and demanding ones that think they hired a personal assistant and not an insurance broker. Also, the ones that text me at 1:00am (you know...because that's totally normal), and the ones that call me 15 times within the hour, when I didn't pick up their phone call.
I had to explain to one that I'm a busy business that fields calls, emails, and text messages, on-the-go, ALL day long as I'm trying to conduct other business, and that I'm not their on-demand tech support. I'm very much done being polite to these kinds of people. This isn't McDonald's. I don't have to take your shit, and I'm not going to take your shit.
Now, when I meet clients, I lay down the rules, and the whole respect speech (you know...the one their shitty parents should've given them), and if they don't like it, they can go elsewhere. 5% of people will end up taking 100% of your time. Not all money is worth it, and I happily toss these kinds of clients to the curb.
There's either mutual respect and politeness, or BYE BYYYYYYE. Who raises people like this?
P.S. In case anyone couldn't tell, I just had one of these clients yesterday. The rage is FRESH.
