Mah, Are you prospecting locally? If you worked it into your introduction that you are a local agent, prospects might not assume you are from some call center in some far away land.

Just stating reality here, when "Steve" calls me, I ask where he is located. We all know how that goes.
Yes locally, I'm licensed in CA and just starting out. Perhaps I will register with states that have potentials later on as my career advances.

I really did not go into this career to help "My people" I want to impact lives that are open to being impacted. :idea:

He purchased lists with African ethnicities (locally in Chicago). The language was often different, but the accent was not a barrier. Part of his appointment setting language was "Have your check book on the table when I get there." That is a strong statement for a new agent.

My point is there is a common denominator which he focused on. This business can burn you out quick. Rather than working extra hard to overcome an obstacle, use this obstacle to your advantage.

His ethnic appointments were looking forward to seeing him, and were happy to introduce him to their friends. Eventually he was able to succeed with "Americans," through the use of referrals.

LOL. I have "American" friends so I will use them to give me referral to their "American" friends. I need exposure to Africans. How can I purchase list with African ethnicities?

I should have those filters available. If you visit Affordable Marketing Lists | Compare us to Sales Genie then click "run counts" at the top, it will take you to a login screen. Just click "search" underneath it and it will let you look through the consumer database. Under that it has options to search by language and ethnicity. Usually on those filters it will use surnames to determine ethnicity (along with other methods I'm sure).
 
Incorporate the warm stuff with the cold stuff as well.

Purchase warm live leads from a vendor like NetQuote. These are people looking for an actual quote. Sure these have a lower closing ratio because they are getting sent to mutliple different agents but these people are looking to buy now.

Nyc thats really a great idea, I will probably purchase warm leads and cold leads and incorporate them.

gflo has a good point. Get a dialer... any dialer will do. Just get one that is simple does what you need it to do and fits your price range. A dialer will make your life much easier and sales is a numbers game. The more people you contact the more sales and... you will expedite your salesmanship skills. Of course make sure you have numbers to call...leads or a targeted list.
