Purchasing LEADS

What is your accent? Yes, it can unfortunately make a difference. You will probably find the most success early on buying a list for your native language.
I'm from Somalia, East Africa. I practice with my husband who is Los Angeles native. I roll the Rs like crazy.
 
I worked with an agent from Nigeria, he did very well cold calling Africans in general. His referral business took off much quicker than most other new agents.

Thats great advice. Yes I'm new. I have a accent hopefully people won't just turn me down because of it.

I'm not real strong on the phone, but it is an effective and cheap way to advertise. Bassically my numbers break down like this:

100 dials = 20 contacts
20 contacts = 1 appt

If you know your numbers, and believe your numbers, you will have no problem with cold calling, because you know its just a numbers game.

There like couple Somali families in LA, but I'm too determined to let my accent get in the way. If someone doesn't want to do business with me because I'm from another country, its their loss. I will probably do a lot of networking as well.

It takes me about 1.5 hrs to make an appt. luckily though, I have about a 50% closing ratio

Axeman you're giving me a hope. I'm sure you're pretty good then. I don't really believe in "luck" your script and company must be excellent to have high closing ratio like that.
 
Hopefully he has unlimited long distance. Is it hard to get a nonresident license for Africa?

So each app written takes 200 calls over three hours, or 1,000 calls to close five. That is a lot of dialing. Impressive. At 100 calls per appt or 200 calls per sale given a 50% close rate, what's the highest number of apps can you write in a week?
 
Mah, Are you prospecting locally? If you worked it into your introduction that you are a local agent, prospects might not assume you are from some call center in some far away land.

Just stating reality here, when "Steve" calls me, I ask where he is located. We all know how that goes.
