When doing a QESHERA application, are you just taking the deduction off the top?

What do you mean by deduction? You mean subtracting the contribution from the subsidy?

I would also add that I think QSEHRA's are pretty useless. If an employees is going to get $800 from the marketplace and the contribution is $400, why have the group pay money that the government would give to the employee anyway?

Then why not do an ICHRA and make the contribution $1? Accomplishes the same goal and the group is not required to spend the money.
