Recruiting FE Agents

They want new agents because they don't enough to ask the tough questions. They also want all agents to recruit because they think that will tie them to the company.

The 1099's are probably real. They just don't tell the back story. What if I have a $100,000 1099 but I spent $50,000 in lead costs to get it?

The top line managers with LH and SL and making bank. They are not making it from personal prodcution.

Look at a company like fexcontracting. The guys that run it are actually out in the field everyday doing the job that you would be doing if you were under them.

That's more important to me that some clown sitting in an office. Now travis will probably be at the end of the phone waiting for your calls because he is in the field. But what good is an upline that answers your calls immediately if they don't have a clue as to how to help you?

Thanks JD.
Sounds like you have first hand experiences with their policies in the field on a regular basis.
Yeah,anybody can take a 1099, a typewriter,some white out and play tricks.
If I'm making a big six figure income like he posts,I'm smoking $50 cigars, playing lots of golf, hanging out in Vegas, and telling no one how much money I'm making or putting up my pay stubs,1099's on CL.
I'm curious to know why these two carriers seek agents with 'no experience',in their help wanted ads on CL,Glassdoor.
Everything with both of these companies seems to be a big secret ?
They want you to recruit too.
What's up with that ?

I hear you JD.
I have a lot to learn. I want to do it right. I think they may be a good fit for someone new to the business who's trying to break in,but only the other hand it's like anything else in life,if it ends in a crash and burn, what good is that ?
There's a lot to be said for living a clean life and keeping it real 100% of the time. That's the creed I live by and I have to be happy with all of my surroundings, especially the people I'm working with.
I'd rather make an honest $ than be unhappy and make $$.
I'm not selling my soul to the devil, nor do I want to be in his presence at any price.
They told me on the phone they would give me leads. It was after we sat down that I was told they were selling leads.
Why should anyone have to pay someone to work somewhere ?

There's no sich thing as free leads with any IMO or ins company. You will pay for leads either directly or thru commission and renewal cuts.

I can't see LH as a place to learn unless you want to learn to sell high over priced products and try to make the FCGS sound like it's what makes the difference. They may even teach you to sell it as a funeral preplan?

Why would anyone need LH? In my best BB King voice, "oh yeah, a coffin needs a nail".:D

Lincoln Heritage has been very good to me.

And it is truthful that they rarely replace other policies.

Why not get all your contracts through one IMO?

IMOs offer different support systems. I have a couple of good contracts with one that has no training and lead support at all while another has many programs available but at a lower contract level. Plus, if you have all your contacts with one and you see a better deal with another, you may have difficulty getting a release. Even if you place most of your business with one IMO you need to have at least one or two with another just in case. But as I said before, you will find some very good sources for contracts among the members on this forum with a little research.

Thanks Ken.
Yes this forum is loaded with great information. It's going to take a little time to get comfortable in the industry.
I was thinking if I had Lincoln H in my tool bag,I could get some ride along training, one on one training from a manager....etc.
The IMO I'm with even said the training would be a big benefit.
LH is captive,so there could be conflict.
Funny thing is,the RM for SeniorLlife told me all I needed for training was a few hours. He said he'd meet me at Chick Fil A to go over the paper work, then take a ride and run a few leads, sell policies. Just like that and I'd be on my own !
I'm curious,is there anyone on this forum who contracted with IMO's and Lincoln, who strictly sellls FE ?
Their contract states that you cannot sell any products that compete with their's.
If so,what's your experience been like ?

What would you guys recommend as a good IMO to get training? I want to get good at D2D then eventually get a telemarketer to set appointments. I hear good things about Travis, Newby and JD's group but what kind of support can a part timer of only 7 months get?

Thanks Ken.

Most (about 95%) of agents that got through either LH or SL will not make it past the first year. The only thing going for them that you can gain as a newbie in the industry is training. After you gett some training under your belt and feel you can survive doing it through an IMO as an independent, then send me a message or ask folks on here about how to do it the right way. I have a mail program and telemarketing system that you can access at reasonable prices. To be a top producer in FE, you need a consistent lead flow.

Noah,
No I don,t endorse either of the larger players. But they do serve a purpose and offer value to many agents. Lincoln offers lead financing and if the agent doesn't have marketing dollars; Lincoln may be a good fit. The ideal situation is to find a mentor who wants to train and motivate new talent. It has to work for both of you. If you are successful in this industry you can name your price when it comes to commissions. I believe you will find the best deal with a smaller IMO. Just try to get some good training. Again, good luck.
