Recruiting FE Agents

What would you guys recommend as a good IMO to get training? I want to get good at D2D then eventually get a telemarketer to set appointments. I hear good things about Travis, Newby and JD's group but what kind of support can a part timer of only 7 months get?

Depending on what area you are in we have some successful agents who will field train you.

But if you aren't in one of those areas, many agents can get successful with our training on the weekly calls and website info. Others can not. It's up to you.

No matter how much you know, taking a ride with someone that's successful in the business is always good.
One of the lost arts because of greed, everybody being in such a hurry in these times we live in.
It sucks for a new agent that's trying to learn to have to go captive, contract with LH or SL to learn hands on in the field.
You can only learn so much from webinars.

I'm in Charlotte NC. I have a full time day job. I work FE evenings and on Saturdays. Working w an IMO but didn't get much field training. My day job has me traveling local, warm calling and warm knocking. I enjoy FE but am smart enough to know I don't know enough yet. I am not captive w my current IMO and have Monumental, Kemper, UHL, American Memorial. I want to pick up another IMO but I still need a successful semi local agent to show where I'm going wrong.

I guess a ride along couldn't hurt but I never did one with any company or IMO for life products.

I did do a couple when I got into selling MA plans. Those weren't particular helpful but the guy I rode with was the major reason for that.

I think going into a house with a seasoned agent and just listening is the best thing someone could do. Watching someone else pitch, handle objections, observe them leading the client, etc. everybody has their own unique style.

I don't agree with that. Well, I do a little bit. If the agent is one that is tuned in to pick up the nuances of what the pro is doing then it would be good. Most are not. If they were that in tune then they wouldn't need a ride along.

The reason I've form that opinion is that I have had a few ride along with me in the past and they had this blank look on their faces afterward like, you didn't do anything special, those people just bought.

Same when agents had ridden along with Travis. He may be the best FE agent out there but everyone that rides along with him is amazed, not by what he did, but by the fact that he didn't do anything that they could pick up on. The people just majically bought.

On the other hand, Travis listened to my warm up and presentation one time and picked up on very key things that I say or phrase. Some of the things he mentioned to me were key in my mind as well but no new agent had ever picked up on it.

I did the same when I heard Tim W talk. There was the way he phrased certain things that I changed in my talk to phase it that same way. New agents that rode along with him did not pick up on it.

I would say a ride along would be more helpful once an agent is seasoned a bit and just needs some fine tuning..

I could be off base on this. I don't train agents or recruit and I just saying my opinion based on what I've observed. Maybe some of the agents that do train will have a different take?

If the person you are riding along with is good it can be a real plus. Most are not very good. Just riding long with an LH agent doesn't mean you are going to learn good things. Most likely the opposite will happen.

If I was going to try to make a living with 4-FE products, I would want the four to be well thought out.

Monumental is OK but not for your main lead product. Too strict on cancer. Not good for insulin diabetics. No option to verify approval at the point of sale. Etc.

Kemper-is an OK choice for GI sales but I sell very little GI business and it's not where you make much of your money.

UHL- I've never heard of anyone who sells any volume of FE with UHL. This one has no place in your line up.

American Memorial- this is a tiny niche company only. Ages 81-85 in good health.

Before you need field training, you need you need to get with your IMO (assuming they know what they are doing) and get a new starting line up. You need to have them help you select the right companies and teach you when and where to use each one.

You'll get killed out there trying to run FE leads with that selection.

Why is LH at the top of the $ chart in FE if their system for agents is a failed model ? How many indy guys out here in FE got their start at LH or SL and have goods things to say about starting off at either one of these places ?

I see where you are coming from. If you are new then you don't recognize the fine tuned details.

If your IMO is successful at selling FE, just copy what they are using and doing. They will teach you because the only way they make an over ride is if you become successful.

If they aren't successful selling FE, cut bait on them and choose your next one wisely. Every Tom, Dick and Harry Jack of all Trades FMO will sign you up with FE companies but they couldn't sell their way out of a wet sack. If they also want to contract you for term life, annuities, LTC, etc they are not the right place to park your FE contracts.
