Referral Program

You never have lunch with business friends or enjoy a sporting event together?

Great Idea ! I am in a new role as I was just hired in the personal line divison of a company and in the process of learning the ropes to doing this.

I will however use this advice

I have always had problems with this. If the insured is buying a new car, chances are they have insurance in place already (or it will be a dog of an account)

Same thing goes with people who are purchasing a home. They most likely had renters insurance in place, or had a home that the new one is replacing.

Good luck.

I'm looking to network with realtors, mortgage reps, credit unions for more personal lines business.

Does anyone have a good proceedure as to how to go about this? Are you stopping in, cold calling and setting an appointment, or anything else?

How do you get these people to refer you business on a consistant basis?

What are some scripts you have in place for you first point of contact with these professionals ?

Thanks in advance

Right but you bring those things to mind. If they get a new car then the rates are going up (no one really expects the amount it goes up, usually about 20-30% of the real value) so you can help reduce sticker shock.

And seriously, buying a new home? They HAVE to get new insurance. ABSOLUTELY MUST. Renters doesn't convert to a homeowners and an old homeowners doesn't convert to a new address. It must be re-written. These are my favorites because people aren't just going to skip out buying a house because the insurance is high- they will shop around and then you swoop in and kick some Allstate ass!

Get people when the insurance is on their mind. A ticket, a new purchase of some kind, a life changing event, etc. most people wonder what is going to happen in the future. Ta-da!
