Can a son get a renter policy for himself if he lives in at home with parent but the parent own the home.

If kitchen caught fire and they can't live there without a kitchen will the rental policy pay for the sons hotel?

Just wondering, I've seen some carriers pay for loss of use, they can't cook or use the kitchen. But they had a adjuster help them with the claim

The parents homeowners policy most likely has money available to stay at a hotel
or elsewhere if uninhabitable. The policy very likely covers family members stuff too. I am not sure of anything because each state and policy/forms/endorsements/scheduled items are different. This a general answer.
You certainly could buy a renters policy if you are renting and very likely would have money available to live somewhere else but make sure agent knows this needs to be confirmed.

I agree with indienoise. Why would this policy even be needed? Most Homeowners policies would cover children living in the household.
