Replacing Wellcare/Coventry MA's

So which is better? taking an app and holding it for the client until Nov 15 or have the client hold this app and mail it in on the Nov 15? I would think that business could be rolled by another agent in the meantime.

And what do you put in the initial receipt date? Today's date? I thought they could not be held for longer than 3 days.

Taking an app and holding it until 11/15 is a CMS violation, as I believe Rick noted above. That's unless they qualify for an SEP, in which case there is no need to wait.

Q; What date do you put in for the initial receipt date on the app if the client is to mail it in Nov 15.

If you write it up on Oct 20, do you date it as oct 20? and then have client mail it in nov 15?

You guys never heard of the pre selling season that started Oct 1st???

We have been selling Coventry/Wellcare and checking AEP. Why wouldnt most people go this route instead of checking SEP and waiting till Nov. 2nd???

Yes AEP starts Nov. 15th but you can sell now!!! If you are not selling during pre selling then you are behind everyone else.

Get knowledge in the business you're in, my friend. AEP starts on NOV 15, there is no such pre selling enrollment.
However, if a plan is exiting a particular market at the end of the year, its member has a SEP which starts Oct 1st, but you probably still want to wait until Nov 15th. Any plan you put them in right now is still giong to be a 2009 with effectives of Nov 1st.

You are wrong! You can write AEP's on Oct. 1st. Client holds app then mails in on Nov. 15th. You can write AEP right now with effective date of 1-1-10. You date the app the day you write it. You can not leave house with app! The client must mail it in.

Give me address of your clients and I will go replace everyone while you wait for Nov. 15th.

Doing it the way you are and leaving the application with the client to mail, it does not matter if they are losing a plan or not. An agent can present benefits now to anyone.

My response was due to you calling it "pre-selling season" and not initially pointing out that you do not take the application with you. There is not such time period as "pre-selling season" but I have known agents who use this term to not only sell, but to take and hold an application until 11/15.

Glad to hear that you're legit.

Rick
