Ride Share Coverage on a Rental Car

Hello, I'm a uber driver in CA, and I rent a car thru Hertz to use when I uber. Can I get a policy to cover me & the car, in all phases of ride share (no rider, on the way to pickup a rider & taking the rider to the drop-off), or do I need to get a commercial policy?

I ask bc, I have a policy on my personal car & I added ride share coverage, specifically for the rental car, but a rep recently told me I would need commercial insurance, bc it's a rental car.

What type of "rep" told you this? An insurance rep or a rental agency rep or an uber rep?

What does your Current Personal Lines Auto Insurer / Agent say? [or is that the same individual?]

A rep at my insurance company told me I would need comm insurance to cover me & the rental car while I uber, bc I'm using a rental & I'm not the owner of the vehicle.

But I was able to get the policy, and update it, bc I sometimes need to change rental vehicles (in case the rental company needs to do maintenance/inspections), all while being abundantly clear to my insurance company, what kind of coverage I was looking for.

Some reps have said what I have is sufficient, but at least 2 different reps (including the last one I spoke to) have said I would need a comm policy.

And reps from my current insurance provider have told me this.

I'm trying to understand if I do need to get comm insurance, or if it's possible to get a policy that will cover me, while I'm using a rental car to uber
