Risk Pool is Up and Running

i would assume that most individuals that have a pre-x are not able to work, due to their situation and thus have lower than avg income. It all sounds great but once the applicant sees the sticker shock of a premium rate that is 100% higher than the std premium then they will find that they are almost in the same boat than they were before...

wow, nice post on your site...I'm of the opion that you don't like this well thought out, fiscally sound.....did you really think I was going to say those things about this government program?

Dirigo has been closed to new enrollees for at least 2 years....I wonder what type of pre-x condition would cause someone to be declined coverage by Anthem being as Maine is a GI state....Wonder how much my state got from the Feds to further prop up Dirigo.

The PCIP will cover a range of health benefits, including primary and specialty care, hospital care, and prescription drugs. The plan does not base eligibility on income and does not charge a higher premium because of a medical condition. Participants will pay a premium that is not more than the standard individual health insurance premium in their state for insurance that covers major medical and prescription drug expenses with some cost-sharing.

California's pool won't be open until September but they ARE taking e-mail requests to get on the waiting list to get an application from MRMIB as soon as they are available.

:twitchy:

yeah but what does it mean....Cover a range of health benefits is really a loose defenition. Covered by co-pay subject to a deductible and co-insurance? Whats the co-insurance and max oop? Prescription drugs generic only and rx caps? expenses with some cost-sharing? What does it mean....I mean I'm in a GI state and looked at the Maine link and can't for the life of me see that Dirigo would cover anyone because the state proof of being declined (GI can't be declined) and they make exceptions based on pre-x being ridered but in Maine as far as I know Anthem (Only company besides Mega offering Individual coverage) doesn't rider anything...Under Maine Law pre-x is a non-issue if you have prior coverage with no more than a 90 break in coverage and even then is covered after 12 months. It looks like my state gets 5 billion for nothing...I'm assuming when they mention 5 billion its per state and not 5 Billion total and not 100 Million per state.. Dirigo runs on at least 60 Million per year now isn't this money for multiple years?

BTW, the risk pool website is up and running as of today, applications are being accepted today in many states - not a single article to be found on any site.
