In the last few weeks, I have had many questions about some of the services that are available for "SEO"

I wanted to list a few of the "Top Questions I receive"

Q. Service that claims to hand submit your site to 100's of Search Engines.

A. Complete waste of Money and time, considering there is really only maybe 5 or 6 search engines that matter, and it takes more than submitting your site.

Q. (will place you at the "Top / 1st Page" of the Search Engine index.)

A. Dont fall for this, make them prove it to you. Anyone can rank sites for obscure Keyword Phrases. I would run as far as I could, if I read this statement.

Q. Social Media Marketing (Huge Buzz Word) Making claims about backlinks and Massive Traffic!

A. Social Media is a very Powerful tool, but it does not work this way, much more complicated than this. Another one I would run from.

Q. Article Marketing and Submission Services that will create a few unique articles for you, then "Create" actually its called "Spin" your article into 1000 unique articles and submit to 1000's of Article Directories.

A. This is the biggest one I see, and one of the Biggest Scams Going.

Article Marketing done correctly and formatted to build authority for your website is very powerful.

Google only pays attention to certain directories that have "Authority and "Trust" in Googles eyes, Human edited article directories.

The Day I see EzineArticles accepting automated submissions is the day I will agree. Will never happen.

Having the same couple articles "spun" or changed 30% is not unique content and will not help the "End User" Bottom line, Google will ignore this content as duplicate, and pays no attention to 2nd and 3rd tier article directories, Google knows this game goes on.

Having a good copywriter that is proficient and understands article marketing will cost you anywhere from $13-$20 per article. Yes I know you can get "cheap" articles for $5-$8, but when it comes to quality, you get what you pay for, So if they say they provide the articles, Run as fast as you can!!!!!

Q. Linking to 100's of PR 4-5-6 pages. Boasting about Page Rank, and what these sites will do for your ranking.

A. Another Great Sounding Scam

Real Page Rank consists of 200 different factors, that no one except the Engineers at Google know. Just having some High PR page linking to you means nothing.

This is just a few, but the most common scams I see or get asked about. There is nothing easy or some program that will get your site to the Top. If it was that easy, dont you think eveyone would be doing it?

Make the company or service show you results and proof of past clients this has worked for. If they tell you they cant due to privacy reasons, Run again as fast as you can!!!

Bottom line, I use none of the above type services with my clients, nor will I ever.

Are you saying that it is kind of like selling insurance and the ads that say, "Earn $150,000 first year working from home in your underwear"? :D

I think you three guys could benefit from contributing at www.bloggerforum.com. I shut this site down last year because of spam problems. I just started it up again -we had over 27,000 members. The new forum software makes spam control easier.

dmiller: you may want to join and post your SEO Q&A in the "Market your blog" forum.

Heck... I've seen copywriters (if you want to call them that) claiming to write original articles for as little as $1-3 per articles. Most articles at these prices are from India or the Phillipines and don't provide any value to your website.

dmiller is right on the money!

Best advide - use an SEO company. Doing it yourself could lead to much trouble. That would be like me attempting to build a house. Sure, im handy, but the house would be built horribly and eventually fall down!

We use a great company & enjoy at least 5-10 leads per day. If you want their info, I'd be happy to share - PM me!
