Seeking Advice from Agents Who Write Homeowners Insurance

Hi! I am new to the forum. Currently I operate an inspection company that provides inspections throughout Florida for residential and commercial properties. Many of the inspections we provide are needed in order for an agent to write a policy or be competitive writing a policy.

While many companies try and get the Carrier to recommend them, we prefer to build relationships with the agents. The problem is that these inspections are already a huge headache for agents. We typically keep agents using our service once they try, but getting them to try it is the hard part.

I was hoping someone might have a unique idea of how we can approach an agent to offer our service without bothering them.

I am a licensed property adjuster with 10 years experience in flood, wind and fire so if you have any questions I am happy to help.

The insurance company is your client, not the agents.
I have enough on my plate and dont want to get into having to schedule inspection appts.

i thought the insurance company sends the inspector, in new york i never scheduled or spoke with an inspector unless they couldnt reach the client in rare circumstances

In Florida the agent helps order inspections sometimes. 4 points & wind mitigation inspections are the responsibility of the insured.

Down here The majority of homes 30+ years in age are required to get a 4-point inspection. It is also beneficial most of the time for the homeowner to get a wind mitigation inspection, as they can save hundreds on their premiums. Most of the time the consumers have no idea who to call for these inspections and ask us, the agents, to recommend someone. I have a few I typically refer to. Prices are the biggest concern for the consumer. If you offer a good price, the agent will probably recommend you to their customer. The inspectors I refer too, came in to our offices and solicited themselves, they also joined BNI in my area, so we send them a lot of business.

My advice is to join a networking group or just go door to door to agents offices.

I think most inspectors work with the carrier directly. Their are usually "fairs" for insurance industry people. Go to one and network.
