I am in a metro area of 500,000 and hope that in time I can get a steady number of leads.

Using very specific terms there are about 300 monthly searches in my area.

By targeting these specific terms I hope to make a quicker impact on my number of leads--although I know it will be 12-18 months before I can expect to see much action.

Are any P&C agents generating more than 20 leads a month from your own website for preferred auto?

If so, how long did it take to consistently start producing at least 20 leads?

May I take a look at your site?

There are a few easy-to-fix mistakes that almost everyone makes when they start out (myself included) that I can look for and point out to you.

PM me if you don't want to share the url with everyone.

I love your enthusiasm, but (and you knew there was a but in there....)

Personally, I would doubt that 300 searches would equate to 20 leads. Basically most who search will not put in their information for you to contact them. Those potential 20 will be split among several sites, i.e., netquote, insureme, you, and a few others. You might get a few sales out of it.

You will need to broaden your search a bit AND develop a few more marketing ideas.

I am really trying to get a feel for a realistic number of p&c leads that can be generated organically.

I have no idea what a reasonable expectation should be. I simply know that there are a huge number of searches being done and with time and effort someone should be able to carve out a slice of those searches...but how big of a slice and how quickly is why I thought I would ask if anyone would share their experience.

Do you know of any agents generating 20 or so preferred auto leads through their own sites?

Or is 8-10 a better target to aim for?

And, yes, personal websites will be one of six marketing strategies--but purchasing internet leads is not one of them.

I'm interested in what kind of numbers others are getting as well.

However, I'm really interested in what the common mistakes are Alston. I don't have a site yet as it's still in the works but I would love to avoid the mistakes.

Thanks.

Here are some of the things I look for and try to avoid on my sites.
  • Company name in title tag (you've only got about 64 characters, don't waste them with your company name)
  • Phone number not featured
  • No call to action
  • Hard to find call to action
  • Wrong radio station - not WIIFM

Spoken like a true Quantum Club member! IMO the best way to utilize a website is in coalition with your other marketing efforts. Promote your site with other media (i.e. - flyers, newsletters, postcards, etc) and direct your prospect to your site. Tell them exactly what you want them to do once they get there and I think you'll have more success than trying to battle Geico, Progressive, etc for top search engine spots.
