Selling FE to the Kind of People Even Some Superstars Couldn't Sell to

OK, i keep getting leads to prospects in Plano, TX. This area is full of swanky condominiums with tight security, and retirement communities with doors accessed only with the use of swipe cards. It has an average family income of $101,000 and is populated by highly educated, upwardly mobile types. Many of them are also immigrants from non-Western countries like India. They are also "far too busy" to meet with a piddling life insurance salesman, even at 8PM.

These are the kind of folks Agentguy5 has said he couldn't sell to around Ft. Lauderdale and Miami, FL. Now some of you are probably thinking, "Well dumbass, why did you order leads for an area like that?" I listed Collin County (where Plano is) as my fourth or fifth choice on my lead orders. My first choice, Grayson County, which is the perfect FE area, out of 120 DM leads I have never gotten a single lead for it. And no, I didn't know you could order by zip codes either.

So, is there anybody here with a lot of experience selling FE to self-important rich buttholes? Any strategies you'd care to share? Thanks in advance!

It's a harder proposition to sell FE off of Mutual of Obama mailers to higher income folks, in my experience.

Keep working them as there is business somewhere in the mix.

In every area that some agent says there can't be sales made in there is another agent making sales there.

YOU have to find out why they sent the card in. They sent it in for a reason. Uncover the reason and then fix it.

Your premise is stupid. If people can afford to self-insure, why pay a premium to an insurance company? So you can cash a commission check?

I have had many people who could "self insure" that have bought small FE type policies over the years.. 1) they see it as paying pennies on the dollar instead of dollar for dollar. 2) They have a large amount of insurance but do not want the family to use that policy for assignment at a funeral home.---- Back in the days when our industrial (weekly premium) plans had a sight draft on the front of them, this was a primary reason for buying a small policy. 3) A lot of folks making big money, living in big homes, driving fancy cars are mortgaged to the hilt and couldn't put $10K cash together on a moments notice if their life depended on it. (These are what I call "poor" rich people).

Sell the plan not the product. or do not propose FE, offer a SI solution to their problem. Do not get hung up on Final Expenses. Also, have someone you can refer if they want term or more than $25,000.

I live in Collin County. The only reason I don't do much there is because I couldn't generate enough leads to suit me. But the leads I did get were usually buyers with good persistency. Also don't assume that just because Collin is possibly the wealthiest county in America, there aren't middle & lower income folks living there. Plano's got some pretty good areas for FE. Have you called or knocked very many of these yet?

Those folks do not fit the profile for people who have a need for final expense life insurance. Consider it a lesson learned and move on. You would be better off knocking on cold doors in a poor neighborhood than wasting anymore of your time and gas to find one person in the lot who might buy a burial policy.

Order more leads by zip codes in the neighbor hoods and counties that do fit the profile for final expense plans. I feel for you buddy. I have been there. And it is not fun.
