Selling Insurance to low income people?

Re: Will you work with low income people?

I'll work with anybody that is motivated, open-minded, and loves their family. The size of their bank account doesn't matter to me.

Re: Will you work with low income people?

I really could care less how much someone makes. All I care about is if they have sufficient income to cover their insurance needs that I am providing.

Of course the term low income is relative...

Am I selling to people on welfare?.... no
Am I selling to people making only 15K-20K/year?... sure, if they have the extra money and the need

Do I drive over 20 minutes for a $30/month policy?... probably not

Do I drive into the ghetto for a $30/month policy?... NO!!!

In many cases it's not a question of size but if they even have one! You can do a lot of running around with that type of prospect because most of them don't respect your time (not that that hasn't happened with the folks on the other side of the tracks either) & you can be left on the porch a lot. However, with that said, I think they like to get FE more than the other side of the tracks. BUT, you do need to qualify much more with a low income situation. And, I think you have more problems after the sale also, if it even sticks. If you sell FE you just have to be aware that it's a different animal and feed it accordingly (just don't get bit). If I were in a "big city" I'd have to agree with secret agent - I don't think I'd be doing FE. Personally I don't like to have to be looking over my back every minute or wonder if my car's going to be there when I get back..... Just my nature - I'm sure there are others who don't even think about it.

I don't recall this thread being about Final Expense. It was about working with low income people.

I just love it when agents are snobs. Leaves more business for those of us who help people instead of themselves.

If you are selling securities, I would agree that income is key. But I'm happy to help all people because everyone deserves help.

Some of us simply choose different markets.

Will I drive 20 minutes in the country if they have a checking account to help someone and make $414.00 ($30 per month at 115% commission) in a heart beat, I'll go further than that.

Would I go to the ghetto for a $100/month policy. Not NO but HELL NO! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! And, I can legally carry. :D

Hell I would drive an hour for a $30 per month sale!

I can too, but that's because my state doesn't have a permit requirement for it ;)

Wouldn't knowingly do this myself. I'm intrigued by this "low income" bit. I've found several decent clients that were perhaps considered low or lower income. Some of them had decent assets--I'm securities licensed and make probably 75% or more of my income in a year from this sort of business.

I find the attitude of the client to be most important. I've met a lot of people who make half a million per year and spend right around half a million a year--or more :goofy:.

However, I have to admit that there really aren't any ghettos around here. Sure there are placed people would rather not go when it's dark outside, but the bad parts of town aren't what I remember from my time in New York.

I actually prefer the low income market. "homeservice" means debit agent. I am still an old school debit guy- at heart.
