Selling Insurance to low income people?

Re: Will you work with low income people?

I put a 17 y.o. Younster in an EIA annuity for just $50 a month a year ago and she is still contributing.
Went to do another and they were pretty poor too but I did get them a 200k life insurance policy (term) and it is still on the books 9 months later.
I try and realate to all people. Meet with a janitor at a school and I'm thinking he doesn't have any money yet he has almost 300k put away for his retirement. Ya just never know.........

Re: Will you work with low income people?

Yes, yes I will. And do. The service work may be a little higher. Not much, but a little. However, the referrals are much higher, same with retention and client loyalty. I do not advertise or buy leads, so those are very important to me. BTW, hardest and least loyal are the $50k - $100K for me.

Would I go into the ghetto. Yes, during the day, no problem. In the early evening? Probably. At night? No.

Also depends on what you call "ghetto".

Last house I drove on past was in the country. Had one of those Dukes of Hazzard dixie flags hanging as front curtain and a Big Pit Bull chained to a old rusty Ford pick up. I saw deliverance. :err:

Re: Will you work with low income people?

When I sell a P & C policy, its always to someone who pays there bills. I hate being charged back because people buy the policy for one month so they can get an ID card to go get there plates and something to show to an officer if necessary for the next 6 months. Had a friend do it to me. pisses me off!!

Low Income?? I feel like we are all low income theses days...

I will work with anyone.. That is my job,,to help people.

Re: Will you work with low income people?

I had a "low income" person told me that he wasn't able to afford the health insurance he signed up for after only 2 months. The wife just signed up for a $100 a month cell phone plan and that's why they are low on funds. But he assured me that once he has enough money, he'll start it up again.

I said no problem, you'll just have to pay for the annual premium in advance. Never heard back from him again.

Would I work with low income people? Depends if they are coupled with stupid or not.

Re: Will you work with low income people?

I went to a home once, very small home that appeared to be a low income home. The man greeted me in house shoes so worn his toes were coming out the ends! I thought to myself "holy crap"....I'll be nice and see what happens. Walked out with a $100,000 annuity sale!! The ol boy was worth nearly a million!

Re: Will you work with low income people?

I'm not at a point when I can say this, but a veteran in my business once said, "If a prospect can't afford your average case size, then they should be fired from your records."

Poor is also a mind set. I have business owner clients who don't make much of an "income." I have clients in law school or a masters program who buy term insurance with the intention of conversion later. They are living off of student loans but still see the advantages of locking in health status and age.

I don't think I have anyone in my system that is pure dead-beat, lazy poor.

Re: Will you work with low income people?

When "I" was flat broke I called on everybody. I have to admit now days when I'm door knocking if I have a lead on a home that has 3 junk cars out front, a refrigarator on the porch and a yard full of crap I keep on going.

Re: Will you work with low income people?

You're a real estate agent. A family drives up in a '79 Gremlin and proceeds to tell you they have no money down, earn $35,000 a year, have a 550 score and want to look at "a lot of houses."

You say....

Or your a salesman working for a company that finances their products and a gentleman comes in you explain the product how the financing works etc and he has one questions. "How much be the payment with the late fee?"
