Selling Medicare Supplements

I am newly licensed in Health, sickness & life and am interested in getting into the Medicare supp market. I have a strong sales background, but am new to the insurance arena. What is the best way for me to get training and support? I don't necessary want to be an independent agent right out of the gate due to my lack of experience, but finding a reputable company to try to work with is proving challenging. I would love any advice I can get...

Banker's Life? I think if our new friend Allison does a search on here she might not want to take you up on that offer.

I'd talk to Frank Stastny. Honestly, getting into the supp market is probably one of the simplest lines to market for effectively.

What is it that attracts you to the Med supp market?

Looking at it from simply a non-independent view and training. Once that is obtained, then independent agency is the way to go. No place, here in ATL other than Bankers will hire Med Supp reps.

If going independent, then MoO is the way to go, but there is no training. No knock on Frank, but training here at home, from the beginning, is optimal.

But, that's just me...I've been independent for 12 years now.

For MoO call The Milner Group and talk to Lat Milner at 770-455-1234 ext. 115. No one beats their rates in the Metro Atlanta area.

I love Banker's Life, I replace there plans every day.

Aside from your biting wit, can you name for the Original Poster, who they can work for, being captive in the Georgia market, to sell Medicare Supplements?

Well?

Hello?

Oh, I didn't think so.

Now, if they decide to go independent, they can sign up with The Milner Group, Cutler and Associates, The Kingdom Group, and so on. I wasn't praising Bankers for their ethics. I was merely pointing out who would offer training and a salary while learning the business. You obviously know ABSOLUTELY nothing about me. The person I know that went to Bankers did so for economic reasons - he wanted to learn the business, then go solo once he had the knowledge.

If it were up to me, everyone would be independent. That's not what everyone needs starting out.

So, the next time you decide to add some "relevant" post, make sure you have the correct answer, not just some snotnose retort. The reason I wanted them to call me was to find out more about them, so that I could be of better service.

So, from area code 912, who do you know?

Wow Bob, I've never seen you like this! Bad day brother?

If the OP wanted to go independent he could call me too. I do see your point about the lack of captive companies in that area though.

It is imperative that an agent who wants to be successful selling Med Supps be an independent agent. Going captive with any company is going to inhibit the agents ability to be successful.

If you like, give me a call, 573.544.4091, and I will be glad to explain in greater detail why you need to be independent.

Isn't that the number to the goat farm?
