Hi all!
Are there any laws that prohibit selling over the phone while on vacation overseas?

Many thanks

One thing to be careful of with eApps is that they can capture your IP address.

You have to state, as the agent, where you are signing.

Now, not legal/insurance advice, but I do know of some people that use a VPN for this purpose. Not that I support it, but it does happen.

FWIW.

If your job needs a license, like in finance or insurance, you usually have to stick to the area where it's valid. Some systems even track your location through your IP address, so that's something to keep in mind.

Many states allow non residents to sell life insurance as long as you have a valid work US work permit and can have a home state. Now some states like FL actually require a green card or US citizenship which is a higher barrier than just a work permit. And again home state ties does not mean you have to reside there. You can establish a business anywhere in USA whether you reside in USA or not.

I have lived overseas for about 5 years now. Probably sold life insurance from at least 10 different countries. I only visit USA when I have a large annuity case and I can not trust myself to close on zoom. The wackiest place I sold life insurance was when I was in Oman.

Generally speaking life insurance companies dont care where you are as long as your persistency is good and you are not churning.

The same laws also apply to RIA's. You can manage money, be registered in the USA and never visit USA. Quite of few in the caribbean managing millions. I have run into several life insurance agents from USA in Indonesia. Bali seems to be magnet for them.
