Seriously, how Does a New Agent Stop Getting Flak for this Job?

Been in this beautiful business of ours for 9 months now and times are tough, as expected. I've read stories of super star agents who made MDRT within 6 months, but they are the .0005%.

I constantly get flak for this job. It's gotten to the point where it's killing my motivation for it. I mean, damn, getting this job off the ground is TOUGH enough as it is. Getting negativity about it almost every day just makes it even worse. It's things like:

- get a job that actually makes any money
- you never have any money
- you never have time to do anything
- all you think about or do is insurance
- you don't have time for anyone anymore
- bla bla freaking bla

The best part is when they try to come up with ways to make the job easier:

- join a networking group
- stand in front of the mall and pass out business cards to every body
- create a website
- network though linkedin

They all are looking for a secret map to Atlantis where there is none. This job requires serious hard work with little in return in the beginning, and they just can't grasp it. I finally blew up and said "please, all of you, write a book on how to be a success selling insurance and send it to the people in the million dollar round table. I'm sure they could use your advice".

Did every successful agent deal with this from their loved ones in the beginning? I mean, geez...

What are you doing for leads?

you may already know him, but search for Jroot on the forum, his agent site is selltermlife.com. Listen to the podcast's tons of great info on generating life insurance leads online, that's where its at. You need to somehow start to embrace the marketing methods he uses. I have have been marketing online for many years. Would never go back to cold calling again..

Fake it until you make it.

I started summer of 2008...worst time ever to start. I was slow to build income yet was too stubborn to quit, lol.

Just keep trying a few different small strategies until one starts gaining traction. Dump things that don't work instantly.

Ironically for me some very strange random things I tried are a gold mine for me...no other agents or competition around.

Send me a PM if you want one that really works for me now...

You have to keep at it! The first few years are extremely tough.. All about persistence buddy.. I started off introducing my self to accounting firms in the area. There are several CPA's that are licensed, but don't do anything with their clients because they're so busy... If you can get in with a few firms that will give you a solid book to start working off of. It's all about building relationships and letting people know what you can bring to the table for them. Good luck!
