Shenandoah Life Sales Suspended

I bet most agents went back and replaced the business they wrote for them.

I've had a couple of small death claims since they went under. They paid right away.

I don't blame any agent for switching someone that had a sizable policy with them. In this economy I'm not sure they will ever be bought. Odds are they will, but there's a chance they won't.

I hate to dump on them but this is just thinning of the herd.

I tried to do a little business with Shenandoah and they were always useless when I called them for anything. They absolutely didn't know anything about insurance from my dealings with them.

I dumped them a long time ago for the same reason. They were a very annoying company to deal with. I'm not surprised they ended up like this.

I would not be surprised if ForeThought was a buyer for Shenandoah. They each have products that the other was headed toward. ForeThought would like to have the additional life products and med sups. Shenandoah was just begining to get into funeral Preneed insurance when they hit the wall.

Did Shenandoah's super cheap rates help cause their predicament?

I wouldn't think so. Their rates were not super cheap. They wee middle of the pack.

If better rates were the downfall of a company, how would you explain RNA being around for 20 years longer than LH and counting?

What caused their downfall was investing in Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac.
