Should I Leave Lincoln Heritage?

I randomly stumbled upon Final Expense and I came to website for a top Lincoln Heritage manager.

When I went to a meeting, the manager was a very great and like minded person to me. The opportunity sounded great as well, and for that reason I jumped on board. I would usually research thoroughly, but I felt this was the right opportunity for me since we had so much in common and he is a good, honest man.

However, after joining this forum a few weeks ago, it seems LH is sort of the laughing stock of the industry.

I am committed to this manager but if LH is really that bad and there is better opportunity elsewhere (being independent, etc.), it isn't fair for me to stay just because of that.

I do not think Lincoln is a bad company by any means. The Funeral Consumer Guardian Society aspect is a strong selling point, the home office is great, and our managers/regional manager are great people.

You can make a lot of money when you become a manager, etc. and even as an agent, but I don't want to put in all my time and energy to this company if it is a bad way to go.

And especially if there are other products which are equivalent and cheaper for the customer.

If you have any advice, and/or if you are an independent agent or one who trains independent agents, I would be open to a phone conversation if you'd like.

I am very hard working, determined, and ambitious.

If you are with Lincoln Heritage and reading this, please do not get the wrong idea. I am not ready to jump ship, I just want to make sure I am in the right place.

Thank you.

Like Lincoln and really every other agency, it comes down to (a) what YOU are willing to put in, and (b), who your upline manager/trainer is and what they bring to the table.

The guy that runs one of the regions in California is a stand-up individual, but ultimately you have to decide if representing Lincoln is right for YOU, because no one is effective as a salesperson slinging something they do not BELIEVE in.

Here and here are a few recent threads with more information on Lincoln Heritage.

Everyone is wasting their breathe. This guy has a rebuttal to everything negative you say about LH. It's obvious from his posts he is deep in the kool-aid. I say just let him learn for himself.

#1 - the MAIN thing with LH is don't let them finance your leads. Pay them in full as you get them. Put them on a credit card if you have to but do NOT let them finance them. More agents get screwed when they leave by that detail than anything else.

2. LH didn't buy FCGS. They created it. They created it as a sales gimmick. They have to come up with a reason for the agents to believe that consumers are not getting a bad deal because the price is so out of line. You will learn that consumers would rather get a better deal on their insurance.

3. Making money for your family will be easier when you have a better priced product. Plus you get paid more to sell it. Agencies like FexContracting and others can pay you higher commission because they cut out those extra layers of middle management. Plus you get your brand new exclusive life insurance leads for $26 each not $34. That means you have more leads to work every week for the same cost to you.

If you are looking for ratification you came to the wrong place. If you seriously want advice you came to the right place.

LH is overpriced on their products. Way over priced. Their leads are the worst I ever worked and they are also over priced.

I was at 100% contracts with them so you really getting hosed there too.

The FCGS is a gimmick. If you like gimmicks then it's about as good as the next one.

There's far better organizations out there for you and for your clients.

If you don't care about either then LH is for you.

80%. It increases as you get promoted.

Just my commitment to the manager and the opportunity to become a manager etc later. And the good home office and same day commissions etc. And the FCGS.

I just dont know what it's like to be independent, thats why im wondering. Thanks.

go find an independent agency near you. ride along with someone who os successful, and be a sponge. Absorb all you can. Be a student of this industry and you will be just fine

Most FE companies pay pretty quickly on business sent in. LH preach this next day thing, but the average FE client is unable to stroke a check right away. If you catch them near to pay day or SS payments you might be lucky. Wrote an app yesterday and I have to date it for 9/15. to complete the sale.

All the FE companies have good home office.

You can do just fine or better as a manager else where.

The FCGS is a very minor factor as similar services that are available contributes very little to closing a sale.

If the leads are providing good returns or ROI and you have the funds to show for your time and effort then it is not that bad, you can now organize yourself to move up to a better level.

But if you want to stay and buy the wax for the manager Benz, then thats OK as America is a free country.

How about 120% compared to 80%? What can you do with the extra raise?

Leads at $36 compared to 26?

What else do you need to know? I am a former LH agent.

Homes offices are mostly the same. There is nothing that stands out special with LH home office compared to others.

----------

LH limits the influence of their agents i.e. the drug list LH uses limits the agent from placing many customers with immediate coverage. Independent agents do not have this limitation. Conditions such as COPD, Parkinson's, or pacemaker implant can be issued with immediate death benefits.

Also, commissions are not reduced for these conditions. Giving the agent the best opportunity.

The are so many reasons LH is a bad choice.
