My idea of selling isn't doing outbound calls to people who dont want to buy insurance. Is there a way to take a call from serious people and just facilitate them through the process to the best option for them? I cant stand this power selling take control of the call b.s.

Look at those stats carefully:
- 98% of all life premiums comes from producers
- Life insurance is not bought - it is sold.
- The field organization is to locate customers and provide advice and product recommendations.

Ben Feldman was asked: "I am still frightened of cold calls, how can you get over this fear?"

You're afraid to make cold calls. So am I. I'm afraid of getting turned down. I'm afraid of being thrown out nicely or rudely. I don't want to make cold-calls. I don't know how to make a sale without making a call. If I think this man needs what I do, I'll propose and make the call. I'll get his attention.

Feldman was the best.

He didn’t look like a salesman. He looked more like a gnome--short and stooped, pudgy and balding, with eyelids so droopy he appeared half-asleep.

He didn’t sound like a salesman. He talked softly, hesitantly, with a lisp. Sometimes he just sat there, blinking, and said nothing.

The Death--and Inspiring Life--of an Extraordinary Salesman : Motivation: It's not Ben Feldman's fault that life insurance isn't universal. It's just that he didn't have time to sell to everyone.

I heard of an opportunity that might interest the OP. All the prospects come to you, the close rate is 100% and you only need to learn five words to determine the prospect’s needs - “You want fries with that?”
Yeah bro, because the entire sales industry is tied to speaking with those who dont want your product and are getting spam called by many many others saying the same thing if they show any inclination of wanting information on the product. There is totally not any part of the economy where "sales" involve actually addressing a legitimate need that the client KNOWS they have and WANTS a solution to, and I'd WILLING to hear your solution and make a decision. But nah dude, the only reality according to you for sales is driving need where there isn't any or flipping burgers.

Yeah bro, because the entire sales industry

They're shit-talking since your question was framed in an overly simple dualistic way. Every agent wants to find the prospect with buying intent.

There will always be tire kickers, internet assholes, petty bargain shoppers, etc...BUT if you market correctly you can engage prospects and filter out the genuinely interested before ever spending your time talking to them. I know, because I do it.

You will NEVER get there by cold calling, which should only be done to build a new book business.

You will also NEVER get there buying leads from a vendor as the vendors only job is to give you a name and number to dial.

I don't even think it's possible with a 3rd party marketing team, though mostly because the secure agent marketers and others like them are gawd awful.

You will eventually get there if you do your own marketing. Improve your approach year after year and eventually you will have a steady flow of qualified prospects.

Simple, but hard.

Yeah, for sure the ONLY way I can see this business being even remotely possible is for sure your own lead generation. I'm wondering though if I'm going to be getting into lead generation via website building with all that it entails to rank and get quality prospects, would I really be smart utilizing that skill for insurance. I feel like theres other markets that are actually alot more based around in already well established needs that I could direct that skill into and just be a lead generator for whatever x business. Say for hvac people in my area, etc.
