Software for Document Management

I am getting piles of policies in filing cabinets. I was wondering what the best paperless programs are. I want to be able to store and search for policies on my computer instead of shuffling through papers. Also what would someone recommend in order to compare mulitiple companies with one input to compare rates.

It comes with adobe writers and some really great software. I use mine everyday.
