SQL Injection on Healthcare.gov

Republicans should find a few hundred volunteers, provide them with token credit cards, bank accounts, etc.. and have them used only to buy an exchange plan. Then, sit back and wait a few weeks or months for fraudulent charges to begin showing up. While waiting, give these folks free coaching sessions for looking sorrowful and angry while testifying.

Easier than that, you just hold a contest similar to what Facebook does and offer a reward to anyone who can hack the site: https://www.facebook.com/hackercup

Of course, they would have done that before launch - not after.

Ray, my son tracked a breach at the university to an apartment building in China. He has also found hackers from African internet cafe's, Indonesia, RU and quite a few places.

The surprising thing to me is, these are mostly in the northern hemisphere. I never hear about anything from South America.

Healther, the SC breach was the result of someone working for the govt that downloaded a trojan via an email link. You can have all the security in the world and when some *** opens a spear-phishing email you are owned.

SC paid Mandiant a huge chunk of cash to track down the problem and write a report on how to prevent future intrusions. Most of the recommendations probably were never implemented but even if they were nothing is safe when entry is as simple as sending an email with a bogus link or attachment.

Somarco,

Like I said before, anyone good enough to break into government systems and steal personal data of hundreds of thousands, or even millions, of people, will be smart enough to cover their tracks. I've tracked down hackers and scammers, even went so far as to get their Facebooks, phone numbers, and pictures of their houses. It's not impossible to track them down, and it's downright easy if the hacker doesn't know what they're doing. When you're in the big leagues like this, they're not going to make it easy.

Cyber crime isn't big in South America because of the emerging internet infrastructure, and the fact that there is a lot more money to be made by organized crime in weapons and drugs. In places like Russia and Serbia, it's quite common for organized crime to kidnap computer gurus and hold them hostage to make scams, viruses, etc. It's becoming more common in places like the Czech Republic and Italy, even India, but I wouldn't expect to see it coming out of SA for at least a few years.

If you saw the stuff they hack into, in moments, at events like Defcon, you'd recognize what a joke the security measures we have are.

but I wouldn't expect to see it coming out of SA for at least a few years.

The 2 exceptions are Venezuela and Chile. But they are nothing compared to the others you mentioned.

Some of my sites have seen a large increase in attempted attacks from Southeast Asia recently.
