SSD Medicare Question

If someone is approved for SSD, does it takes 24 months before they can enroll in Medicare?

I have a 60 year old client who developed cancer and was placed on Kidney Dialysis in April of this year. He was approved for Medicare on June 1st and I wrote an under age MedSup for him that was effective retroactive to June 1st.

It appears tha there are some instances when a pre-65 year old does not have to wait 24 months for Medicare?

Kidney dialysis has funny rules, but the rule for SSD is on the first of the 25th month they get Medicare.

I think ALS and certain renal diseases are the exceptions. I was just reading more online.
