Got a call this morning from someone on the Texas High Risk Health pool and says he was told his coverage will be canceled at the end of the year.....so it begins..
States rethink high-risk-pool plans - Brett Norman - POLITICO.com

"The federal plan was designed from the start to be temporary and to shut down as soon as the exchanges open.
But many states had planned on moving their high-risk pool populations into the exchanges slowly to mitigate the shock to the individual market. But now, the state high-risk pools may offload as many people as they can onto the exchanges as soon as they open in 2014 or risk losing a piece of that $20 billion pie."

at the bottom of the link.......

"The Texas Health Insurance Pool is moving in a similar direction, said its executive director, Steven Browning. It recently announced to policyholders that coverage could be canceled as soon as Jan. 1, 2014, or during "a transition period" covering part of 2014.
"

Inclusive Health, NC's high risk pool has closed it's State option due to lack of funding. They no longer compensate the agent as of 2/1, and only accept HIPPA eligible.
