Surgery Question

How do you all handle the question that asks if the proposed insured has been advised to have or is waiting to have surgery?

The reason that I am asking is on more than one appointment, I have asked this and I get:

Yes, I need hip replacement in 1 year or less or...

the doctor told me that I will need surgery on my back in the next 6 mos.

Are the carriers talking about more serious surgeries or is the question interpreted literally?

Carriers in my bag (Trans, Americo, UoO, UHL & Kemper)

Thx in advance.

oxford and 5 star don't ask that question consider them.

Q3 on TA's app "within the past 2 years: advised to have any surgical operation."

that's a tough one as any "yes" answer is a decline. so either look elsewhere or call them to see if there's any exceptions.

spoke to an underwriter at Trans...she said that if surgery is going to happen in next 6-12 mos. then answer is "yes"

thx for the response MALife
