The 3 Reasons to sell

The three reasons is Senior Life's pitch, who probably got it from Lincoln Heritage. Where did FEX get it from? Who knows, but it ain't theirs.:nah:

I hate to be the one to tell you this. But I've Been at this long enough that I can remember when both Senior Life and Lincoln Heritage's FE division were formed. And Travis has been at it just about as long as me.

I don't know if Travis created the three reasons or learned it from an ancient caveman selling door to door. But he's the one responsible for training it to the masses in the FE biz. It certainly wasn't LH or Senior Life of all places.

I never used Lincoln's 3 reasons, but I always liked theirs.

1. Someone they loved recently passed away.

2. They recently had a change of health.

3. They recently had a birthday.

Takes you in a little bit different direction of course and leaves less room for replacements. Of course, not many Lincoln agents replacing.

But I thought when we discussed this years ago, we came to the conclusion that the 3 reasons pre-date all of us?

Perhaps we are all stuck on the number 3... seems like if you read your client it may be wise to improvise a 4th or 5th choice.

Where did FEX get it from?

I don't care where they got it from - but I know where I got it from. And it was from JD. In another thread, just yesterday I said this:

I doubt there is much new and unique in the world of door to door sales. Most of what works was probably figured out long ago and pretty quickly and its been shared and passed around. I don't think I do anything that I came up with on my own (except for the crumpling of the lead and telling them to trash it - and even that either came from or was inspired by @jdeasy).

So no matter where it came from, we can at least agree that it didn't just come into being last night on the forum, right?

I don't think anyone is disagreeing with that.

Brandon uses the same 3 reasons and he's rarely on the forum or associated with JD or Travis.

He got it from someone at OLA 10+ years ago.

He's trained more agents than Senior Life and LH? Wow.:noteworthy:
But FEX spawned from EFES, correct? Who did EFES spawn from?

This forum can be like a pitbull on a pork chop sometimes ...

I just thought it was funny that we get an "Art of Door Knocking" thread where little is said in the OP about the actual art of door knocking, and then a three reasons to sell thread where the three reason pitch has basically been referred to as "JD's three questions" even though we all agree that someone else came up with them even before JD. And, as @Newby pointed out, those are really three reasons someone sent the card in - and the reason they work so well is because any of those three reasons is also a reason to buy final expense insurance.

At any rate, I know where I learned them, and I use them in every home I get into to give a presentation and I was using them long before I got mixed up or contracted with any of the forum IMO's ... but I learned them right here and at FEX's website.

I got myself a copy of W. Clement Stone's The Success Secret that Never Fails that was recommended by another FEX lad, Nick Frumkin, otherwise known as the notorious @NAF1138 and I'm going to spend a few hours reading that this Saturday morning as it is raining, and I do not door knock in the rain. I bet I'll find some oldies but goodies in there ... I may even find the origin of the three questions for all I know.

The title of the thread is even a bit off. It's not the three reasons to sell. It's the three reasons for responding to the lead.

Actually, the "3" reasons listed and variations thereof are reasons to BUY, not sell.

may even find the origin of the three questions for all I know.

Handed down on a stone tablet given on top of a mountain.
