The Dismantling of ObamaCare - Ongoing Updates.

true coverage for all government plan

Won't happen. Not financially feasible. DC can't pay for Barrycare.

people manning the phone had none of that info ready to provide.

Then you were talking to the wrong people.

Providers don't send a bill to the carrier without putting a price on it. Someone in the doctors office or billing knows (or can look up) a price based on the CPT code.

Every EOB and MSN I have seen has a retail price on it.

Put everyone on 5-10k deductible HSA plans.
HSA penetration is about 30% of market I believe, time to make it 100%.

How do you propose to make that happen?

How many people have the ability to fund $2,000/mo for a HDHP and have $$$ left over for the HSA?

I guess all these people on Medi-Share and religious healthshare plans will likely stay on those... they're not likely to leave those plans and buy insurance. And as long as doctors have to buy malpractice insurance...and Lawyers going after providers to sue for mistakes why would HC cost decrease?

Or they were told not to give out the information.....

Even if providers knew the net pricing, which they don't, giving out that information is a violation of their contract. It is considered sharing trade secrets.

Bill, pre-funding an HSA for people who think they can't go to the doc unless they have a copay won't work.

.

But then how will transparency work???

Geez, Bob. Chill. I called. They wouldn't/couldn't give me the info I needed. If I'm about to spend $3K, I should be able to get the info easily. And so should the American public.

It's a negotiation, Jen. Unless you are the kind who pays sticker on a car.

Doc quotes a retail price. Counter. Either they take it or they don't. If you need a cheat sheet use this

Uggghhh...I'm not talking cash pay. (We were talking 2 different things)

Its the friggin nationwide BCBS PPO.

I want the contracted rate for endo and colonscopy at 3 different hospitals, so I know what to expect. They should give it to me without 14 hoops.

Talking to the wrong person? Thats one of the most ridiculous things ive heard.

If the person answering the phone cant tell me, and the next 3 people they ask cant tell them. How am I supposed to find the right person? I was speaking to billing...

The truth is that they can easily tell me. The offices are just so complicated these days, they have no real system to do so. Or... they are just told not to because its bad for business.

The system is broken, all the way down to the provider level. Its not a free-market, its crony capitalism at its finest. It was that way before Ocare and has only got worse sinse.

Anyone who thinks its a free-market based system has blinders on.
