The Eye Popping 2016 Obamacare Rate Increases Are Out

2016 Premiums: SPIN QUOTE OF THE DAY

""Marinan R. Williams, chief executive of the Scott & White Health Plan in Texas, which is seeking a 32 percent rate increase, said the request shows that "there was a real need for the Affordable Care Act.""
:err:

Individual plan premiums have at least doubled since 2013...but where's the public outrage? I think not enough people are affected. Only a small percentage of America is on an Individual plan.

If this happened in the Group Market, America would be in revolt mode. The ObamaScare approval number would be far below its current level of 43%.

When are these rate increases from various different states going to be approved or declined, is it right before enrollment. Just curious.

The final approval, comes just 30 days after the FIRST final approval, before going to HHS for final final final approval.

I meant to say beginning of Oct

On the plus side, maybe they will release them a little earlier, since its not an election year

More bad news for survival of Co-Ops, I just don't understand how some Co-ops in other states, in same situation, are only raising rates 0-9%?.

Official: Health co-op's place on 2016 exchange uncertain

Because some of them didn't enroll that many people yet. Illinois' LOL (Land of Lincoln) Co-Op only has 54,000 members. As a result, It still has quite a few million dollars in "seed" money left in the fund to pay claims, and keep premiums low enough to continue nibbling away at the colored company's huge market-share. LOL only enrolled 3,500 in 2014...then cut premiums by 30% for 2015. The most medically expensive people enrolled in Blue Cross in 2014 and remain there. The +50,000 enrolled this year are better risk/lower cost.

That being said, these Co-ops better hurry up and get out of "survival" mode and into "health insurer" mode. The Facebook page for LOL is clogged up with complaints from customers.
