The Eye Popping 2016 Obamacare Rate Increases Are Out

I did ask them to write the order for the scan and they insisted that I had to have other tests first

A CYA move just in case you filed a claim with your carrier.

If you want a scan and your insurance won't pay for it, go to a doc that doesn't have your ins info and pay cash.

Well too late now. That was back in 2012, and at the time I was in a state of panic while everyone is screaming " you have cancer" but they can't figure out what it is. As the months were ticking by and no one was able to figure it out, I was also developing symptoms. I'm sure I wasn't thinking as clearly as I should have been, but the system is stacked against the patient if it's an unusual scenario.

Because I'm in this business I was more aggressive about being my own advocate than the average person. I can't imagine how a layperson who is sick already is supposed to navigate it. Basically, it's all too difficult , expensive and has nothing to do with patient care.

Wow. I thought nothing would surprise me anymore, but then this comes along.

They really insisted on 7-26% rate increases OVER what the carriers applied for?

If my crappy math skills are right, the 24-26% they put on Health Net and Zoom means that these companies would have been the cheapest, but are now the most expensive, while the most expensive are now the cheapest.

Zoom is a two-man owned company consisting of urgent care centers. They're in for a few hard knocks as they learn the industry.

HealthNet has a nasty reputation out here in Oregon. Something about not paying their bills to our biggest hospital system in the Portland area.

Me thinks that Obama's experiment in rate transparency backfired. The media and public didn't get angry at Health Insurers like he hoped they would. Obama (probably) called HHS's Burwell and told her not to post any more +10% rate increase requests to https://ratereview.healthcare.gov/ , after that first batch caused such an uproar.

I'm finding +10% rate increases, listed at various media sites around the country, that aren't on RateReview.healthcare.scrubbed.

Very few people make the connection between rising rates, higher OOP, etc and Obamacare.

My wife works in education and many (most?) are died in the wool Democrats. They might occasionally complain about something Obama does but always blame the school and insurance carrier for these crappy plans that don't cover anything.
